My Summary
About Me
Hi, I’m Amelia.
I’m a warm and enthusiastic childcare and learning support professional with a passion for helping children grow in confidence and enjoy learning again. I tailor every session to each child’s needs, strengths, and pace, keeping things calm, engaging, and achievable.
I love working closely with families to create a supportive environment where children feel understood and empowered. After returning from maternity leave, I’m now opening a few new morning and evening slots for tutoring and intervention.

My Experience
I have over five years of experience working with children across a wide range of settings, including schools, clinical environments, and community spaces. For more than three of those years, I worked in a clinical setting supporting children aged 18 months to 15 years with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, dyslexia, learning difficulties, sensory processing needs, and developmental delays.
In this role, I delivered highly personalised interventions focused on core life skills such as attention and listening, cognitive development, behaviour regulation, communication, emotional awareness, social interaction, problem-solving, and independence. Every session was tailored, structured, and engaging to meet each child’s unique learning profile.
I also have experience working in mainstream schools as a one-to-one tutor, supporting children with ASC, ADHD, and dyslexia. I created nurturing, stimulating learning environments for both Reception-aged pupils, aligned with EYFS goals and older learners who needed confidence-building and academic catch-up.
I am currently part of the education team within a hospital school, supporting children and young people who cannot access education due to illness. Working daily within a multidisciplinary team alongside medical professionals, I help students rebuild essential academic, social, emotional, and practical skills, while preparing them for a successful transition back into education, training, or employment.
Alongside my professional roles, I have been running my private tutoring and intervention service, The Learning Journey with Amelia, for the past two years. Through this, I offer academic tutoring, social communication support, and sensory-based interventions, always with a focus on nurturing confidence and fostering independence.
During my psychology degree, I completed a research project exploring how Autism Spectrum Condition presents differently in males and females, and how the severity of traits impacts daily life. This work continues to influence my practice and reinforces my commitment to providing thoughtful, inclusive, and individualised support.
My Qualifications
I hold an enhanced DBS check, which is registered on the Update Service for ease and transparency. I also have up-to-date Paediatric First Aid training and have completed Safeguarding Children Level 1, ensuring I meet the highest standards of safety and care when working with children and young people.
I studied Psychology at the University of Hertfordshire, where I developed a strong foundation in child development, neurodiversity, and mental health—knowledge I continue to build on in my current roles.
To keep my practice fresh, informed, and evidence-based, I complete a minimum of three hours of CPD every week. My ongoing training covers areas such as neurodiversity, mental health, trauma-informed practice, behaviour regulation, and safeguarding. Continuous learning is a huge part of my approach, and it allows me to offer the most relevant, supportive, and compassionate care to every child I work with.
