About Me

Hello, I'm an Oftsed registered Nanny, paediatrically First Aid trained and insured. I'm a Visual Artist and Workshop Leader working mostly with preschool and KS1 aged children with creative based sessions for educational and entertainment ends. I studied Anthropology at SOAS, University of London, as I have a deep interest in culture and humanity, and studied Graphic Design: New Media at BA level for my interest in communicative arts.

As a creative freelancer, I work in admin and hospitality part time for my daily bread as my creative commissions come and go. I work in a busy local cafe that caters to parents in preschoolers in the community (i.e. I'm somewhat immune to chaos) setting up, preparing food, cleaning and washing up.

I enjoy the outdoors, long walks and a few sports like skiing, snowboarding and badminton. I play music on a variety of instruments (bass, guitar, percussion, keyboard) but most of all I have a fantastic imagination! I have worked in Theatre for a number of years (National Theatre, Polka Theatre) and am working up to Acting Level 2 course having completed two foundational courses last year which inform my creative practises.

People find me very calming, funny and playful. I love books, languages and dance. Play is essential to my existence. I truly believe in the wisdom of children and would like to live in a world where they are respected.
I have an 8 year old nephew and we spend a lot of time together (well, when he's not playing or thinking about playing Roblox/ Minecraft/Sonic!).

My Experience

I am the eldest of five children and played an instrumental role in the care and wellbeing of my own siblings growing up to support my parents. Like many women, I come from a line of women who work with children. It should come as no surprise then I started babysitting for neighbours at 14 and did my work experience at my old primary school, volunteering where possible.
Childcare comes naturally to me at this point, and after years of tutoring, devising and facilitating children's workshops for companies and my own businesses, I decided to formalise my experience with the relevant qualifications.

I've worked as a 1-1 tutor for children and young people with SpLds; being dyslexic myself it is important for me to be an example of not only academic achievement but to help children realise value in and celebrate neurodivergence despite its difficulty.

I ran a business called 'African Musical Instruments' for ten years based on my childrem's book of the same name. I took part in major festivals and exhibitions including the British library and the South Bank Centre and also offered children's creative workshops to schools and libraries around London.
I ran a creative business delivering children's weekly workshops in South Norwood and Crystal Palace, as well as hosting children's parties.
I delivered and devised Art, English Language and Wellbeing workshops for KS1 and KS2 with Emergency Exit Arts Agency.
I've cofacilitated workshops with the National Theatre, Goldsmiths university, Greae Theatre Company (D/deaf and disabled artists and theatre makers) and Talawa Theatre Company (Black British theatre company).
