About Me
I'm a 21 year old student studying Economics at the University of St Andrews, from Glasgow originally. In my free time, I play the guitar and enjoy going to the gym. In the long term, I plan to have a career in Finance and have undertaken several internships to work towards this goal. I enjoy doing arts and crafts and have experience running these sessions with large groups of children. I also have plenty of games up my sleeve to keep children entertained which I developed from the week of residential childcare training I undertook prior to my experience as a camp counsellor.
My Experience
After-School Childminder (08/2018-03/2020)
I collected two primary school age children from their school and coordinated their afterschool schedules, including general care, preparing food and taking them to attend after school sport lessons.
Camp Counsellor – Camp Crusoe (07/2021-08/2021)
I worked as a Camp Counsellor assisting in the running of all aspects of a children's summer camp, including being solely responsible for a group of 8 children from the ages of 8-15 and planning recreational activities to keep them safe and happy. Additionally, the role included implementing outings, supervising team-building events and providing one-on-one counselling to camp attendees, as needed. I had 24 hour responsibility to care for the emotional needs for a wider group of camp attendees, and provided overnight supervision for children in an eight bed dorm. As part of this role, I gained experience cleaning a large bedroom house, stripping beds and assisting in mealtimes for over 100 people. Prior to this job, I was subject to a DBS check and attended a week of training for a role. This training provided me with numerous games and activities as well as arts and crafts sessions I am confident running with children.
My Qualifications
I attended a week of leadership training for residential children's summer camps provided by the Summer Camps Trust. In addition to this, I have 5 Higher qualifications and 3 Advanced Highers all at a grade of A.
My Availability
I am available for part-time childcare alongside my university studies. Due to the semi-online nature of most of my lectures, I am generally able to be flexible and work whenever is convenient (as such I have ticked almost all the boxes below). However, I expect that I wouldn't be able to work over 20 hours a week without it being detrimental to my studies and my availability will likely change slightly from week to week.
