About Me
I grew up in Chessington with my mum
and a disabled autistic older brother. I am
a part of Kingston's young carers
network. I study biomedical science at
the University of Kent and I hope to work
as a research scientist in the next five
years.
My Experience
I worked at Busy Bees Nursery. I worked 40 hours per week in a nursery
with O to 3-year-olds and special needs
babies. I would feed them their breakfast
lunch and dinner. I would help settle the
children down to their naps and
frequently change their nappies. As a
young carer for my older brother, I assist
him with personal hygiene and help him
with his day-to-day routines. I would set up safe tasks such as soft
toys in a pool of water, I would make a
car park with tape and let them play with
toy cars. To settle the children I would
sing to them or read them a story. For
engaging activities, I would test the
children on shape and colour
recognition. I love interacting with children and
seeing them grow and develop new
interests. At the nursery, I was helping
Arthur say some words and he managed
to repeat the sound of a dog, this was
one of my favourite moments seeing him
grow smarter.
