Although I don’t hold formal childcare qualifications, I have always been closely involved in supporting friends and family with their children (whether that’s giving parents some well-earned free time or being a consistent, trusted presence). I’ve also played an active role in supporting my sister as a single mother, which has given me a real understanding of the responsibility, trust, and care that comes with looking after children.
I genuinely enjoy spending time with children and helping them feel safe, supported, and happy. I’m dependable, understanding, and always aim to create a calm and nurturing environment.
My Experience
My experience with childcare comes from being closely involved in children’s lives in a very real, everyday way. I’ve been a guardian for my younger brother, who is now 4, and I’m also very hands-on with my nephew, who is nearly 2. Through this, I’ve learned how important it is to create a space where children feel safe, comfortable, and free to be themselves.
I really value giving children the time and attention they need to express their thoughts, emotions, and personalities. Whether that’s through play, conversation, creativity, or simply letting them lead the way sometimes, I believe children thrive when they feel heard and accepted. I aim to be calm, patient, and supportive, especially during moments when emotions are big or things feel overwhelming.
My background working in mental health services has also shaped how I approach care. It’s helped me develop strong listening skills, emotional awareness, and an understanding that everyone communicates differently - including children. I bring that same empathy and understanding into childcare, focusing on reassurance, encouragement, and positive guidance rather than pressure or control.
My Qualifications
I have a Level 2 qualification in Customer Service, which has helped me develop strong communication skills, patience, and the ability to respond calmly and professionally in different situations. I also hold a Level 3 Diploma in Social and Community Work, giving me a solid understanding of safeguarding, supporting individuals with different needs, and working in a responsible and caring role.
Alongside this, I have completed multiple GCSEs and have up-to-date CPR training covering all ages, from newborns through to adults. This training has given me confidence in responding appropriately in emergency situations and ensuring the safety and wellbeing of those in my care.
While my qualifications are broad rather than childcare-specific, they strongly support my ability to provide safe, attentive, and thoughtful care in a childcare setting.
I also have a full DBS check available with no Criminal convictions.
My Availability
Mornings, Evenings, Weekends - I am generally open to discuss flexibility and hours that work for both of us.
