About Me

Hello, my name is Bethany and I am passionate about working with children. I am currently training to become a primary school teacher and I am looking for full time work during the school summer holidays.

I have an undergraduate degree as well as a masters in psychology. Studying psychology provided me with a wide breadth of knowledge regarding developmental/child psychology as well as learning about additional needs.

After studying my Masters, I decided to gain experience working with children and I began an apprenticeship at a nursery which provided me with an SCQF Level 7 qualification in social services (children and young people). Working in early years provided me with skills and experience in multiple areas. Some of these areas include personal care duties (e.g., nappy changing and toilet training), creating provocatives where children can learn through play, creating a nurturing environment where children feel confident enough to explore new and unfamiliar situations and working with parents and families.

For a school term, I was a 1-1 teaching assistant in an additional needs school where I worked with a boy with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and trauma. This job taught me about trauma-informed practices as well as the principles of nurture. It showed me how important it is to meet the emotional needs of a child first as a children cannot learn if they are consistenly in a state of stress.

I am currently doing my PGDE in primary teaching and will hopefully be doing my probationary teaching year this August. Therefore, would love to help out any families who need a hand during the school holidays.
