About Me
I'm a Danish mum who has lived in London for 10 years. I have two wonderful children: Tristan (5y, autism) and Nova (2y) and am currently looking for a nanny to help us with Tristan's morning commute to his school (1h 15min journey, 1 bus and an overground train, 7:45am - 9am, from N1 7JB to Fulham).
A bit about Tristan:
- Tristan is a happy 5 year old boy with autism.
- He is behind in speech and language but communicates in small sentences and can generally make his needs clear.
- He’s generally sweet and affectionate towards those he knows but may take a little while to warm up to new people.
- At school they call him a social butterfly. He loves other people’s attention and enjoys pretend play.
- Because of his autism, his mood isn’t always predictable and sometimes seemingly small things can set him off. He will sometimes go through periods of showing more challenging behaviour (screaming, kicking) but as of writing this post we haven’t had any incidents in a month. Still something to be aware of may turn up and lasting for weeks at a time (possibly developmental leaps) but he’s gotten better as he’s become older. Good communication and a strong bond helps a lot.
My Requirements
I’m looking to hire someone for a permanent position, picking up my son, Tristan, at our home (N1 7JB) 3-4 mornings a week at 7:45am (dropping him off at school at 9am) in Fulham. It requires one bus and a one overground train. The journey is straightforward and comfortable.
We are looking for:
- A friendly individual, good with kids who likes to talk and engage with children.
- Someone who is confident with public transport, e.g. is able to find alternative routes if the train is cancelled or able to book an cab/Uber.
- Has experience with SEN children or is open to learning about it and generally very good with kids.
- Is free to do the morning commute ideally 3-4 mornings a week (7:45am-9am) but 2 or 5 days is an option if you’re the right person.
- Is ok with keeping screen time on the journey to a minimum . An iPad is always available in his rucksack but because it tends to overstimulate him we keep it to a minimum .
- Start date is flexible . Could be ASAP, or can wait until September '25.
- The exact days of the week also have some flexibility , so we may be able to work it out if you have certain preferences .
We offer:
- A straightforward job with a mostly loving and friendly kid once he gets to know you (please do read my profile which contains more information on Tristan)
- We will cover all transportation costs for the journey (e.g. through a monthly TfL travel card)
- We will pay for the time you spend getting to us and home (or to your next job). So although the job is only 1h 15 min, we’ll pay you for 2-3h work
If you have any questions at all please don’t hesitate to message me. I’m a friendly mum just looking to get some support for a long commute I can’t do every day on my own. Thank you if you’ve read this far!
