My Summary
About Me
Im a 19 year old student currently studying child nursing so I have a strong understanding of child development, safety and care. I’ve completed a dbs check and have some comprehension of first aid services due to my studies, including how to respond in emergencies. I’m reliable, calm under pressure and genuinely enjoy spending time with children- whether it’s helping with homework, playing silly games or sticking to routines. I tailor my care to each child’s needs and aim to create a safe, fun and supportive environment.
My Experience
I’ve been caring for children for several years, starting with babysitting my younger cousins, who are between 2 and 8 years old. I’ve also babysat for a family friend, which gave me more one-on-one experience. In sixth form, I studied Health and Social Care and did a placement in a primary school, working with children from nursery to Year 2.
During that time, I supported a non-verbal autistic child, which helped me learn how to interact in a calm, structured, and sensitive way to meet her needs. More recently, through my child nursing degree, I did a placement in a nursery where I cared for children as young as a few months up to 4 years old. I had the chance to work with another autistic child there, and that really helped me develop my communication skills even more—especially using non-verbal cues, consistency, and sensory awareness.
I’ve always had a natural connection with children from quite a young age. I’m calm, patient, and really enjoy getting to know each child’s personality so I can tailor my care to what makes them feel safe, understood, and happy.
My Qualifications
I’m currently studying child nursing at university, which gives me strong knowledge in child development, health, and safety. I also completed Health and Social Care in sixth form, where I learned about safeguarding, communication, and supporting children with additional needs.
I have a valid DBS certificate, and I’ve done basic first aid training through my university—so I’m confident responding in emergency situations, including things like placing a child in the recovery position or monitoring breathing and heart rate.
On top of that, I’ve completed hands-on placements in both a primary school and a nursery, where I cared for children aged from just a few months to around 7 years old, including children with autism. So overall, I feel well-prepared to support children safely and confidently.
