About Me

Hi I’m Charis, I’m fun, bubbly and always have new and creative ideas of how to keep children entertained and help them grow and developed. Working in a children’s care home meant that I did every aspect of looking after the children and the home. From doing the laundry and cooking to completing homework with the children and doing their bedtime routines with them.

I took a short break working with children over the summer and I’m ready to get back into it as I know that’s where my passion lies. I like to introduce children to my hobbies of baking, arts and crafts and outdoor exploring as well as getting to know the child’s interests and incorporating them where possible.

My Experience

I have experience working in a child’s residential care home, ages ranges from 5-14. Whilst working here I was a team leader, meaning that I planned out the whole shift to ensure that all the children had their needs met throughout the week and extra support was provided to those children who required it.

I have also worked in an SEN school working 1:1 with children helping them to develop their maths/english and life skills. Some of the children that I worked with had selective mutism, autism and ADHD. So I have developed an understanding and skills set of how to adapt my way of working to best help those that are neurodivergent. Whilst working here I also attended a course to become an autism ambassador in Hampshire.

My Qualifications

2:1 BSc in Psychology.
Safeguarding training.
I have completed some modules in caring for and supporting children and families in residential care. My GCSE’s are all A*-B.

My Availability

I am currently unemployed as I have just finished a very busy summer job. This means I am available at short notice and I’m flexible.
