My name is Emily, and I am 21 years old. I am currently a Room Manager in the baby room at a nursery, where I lead daily practice and support both the development of the children and the effectiveness of the team. I have worked in childcare for five years, beginning my career immediately after finishing school. I completed my Level 2 Childcare qualification, followed by an additional year studying Level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning, which strengthened my understanding of early education and provided valuable experience in a teaching assistant role.
I have always had a strong passion for working with young children, having grown up in an environment where I was surrounded by and involved with caring for them. I find great fulfilment in supporting each child’s growth, development, and emerging individuality. My role has allowed me to build strong relationships with families, create nurturing learning environments, and continually develop my professional skills. My Experience
I have five years of experience working in childcare. After finishing school, I went on to college to complete my Level 2 Childcare qualification. During this time, I began agency work to gain hands-on experience in a variety of nursery settings, alongside attending nursery placements as part of my course. I then progressed to a Level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning qualification, which allowed me to complete placements in schools and develop my confidence in supporting children within different educational environments.
While studying, I started a part-time position in a nursery, and once I completed my qualification, I transitioned into a full-time role. I have always worked within the baby room, where I have built strong knowledge and experience in infant care and early development. I initially joined as a Level 2 Early Years Practitioner, and later stepped into the Room Manager role to provide maternity cover. Following this, I was offered the position permanently, and I continue to lead the Baby Bees room, supporting both the children’s development and the team’s practice.
I am now furthering my professional development by completing my Level 3 Early Years Educator qualification, which is helping me strengthen my skills and deepen my understanding of high-quality early years practice.
I also have additional experience in babysitting. I currently provide regular weekend childcare for a child who previously attended my nursery, allowing me to maintain a strong and trusting relationship with the family. Alongside this, I have babysat for several other children over the years, which has helped me gain further hands-on experience and strengthen my skills in caring for children of different ages outside of a nursery setting.
