My Summary
About Me
I have over 25 years experience of working with children in both educational, social care and nannying settings.
I am a fun loving person who loves play and creativity. Working with children and grown ups is my passion. I am very much a muck in and do whatever person to benefit the household I work for, the only thing I won’t do is eat raw celery!
My Experience
I am currently working for a family and have done so for nearly 9 years. In that time I have had sole charge of a child from aged 6 to 15 years. My job description was just play! Which we did with enthusiasm! Arts and crafts, walks in the woods, making dens card board crazy costumes and buildings! Science experiments and creating our own fantasy lands out of furniture and blankets!
I have also worked in social care with Children who are either adopted or fostered or in need of respite. Day trips and residential trips away and contact visits with birth parents.
Here I gained lots of experience with children with SEN and also with behavioural and emotional needs.
Mt early career was spent in educational settings working 1:1 with children with ECHP plans. Working in a classroom setting supporting children to access the curriculum both as a whole class and in small groups. I also have experience in managing a team of staff to deliver specialist support as required by their ECHP plans.
My Qualifications
I am educated to A level standard.
I also hold a City and Guilds certificate as a learning support assistant.
I have been on many courses relating to childhood development and SEN including ASD, attachment disorders Emotional and Behavioural difficulties, childhood bereavement etc.
I don’t hold a current Paediatric first aid certificate but have done so previously and I am happy to undertake an updated one if required.
I have a current Enhanced DBS certificate and have also had safeguarding training in the past.
My Availability
I would like to work 20-24 hrs a week but this can be very flexible over the whole day depending on distance. I can also take on extra hours when needed by the family or children in my care.
My current role ends in March but my current employer has said I can leave earlier if my ‘dream’ job becomes available!
