About Me

I am an experienced face to face and online mathematics tutor with over 15 years of teaching experience across the UK, Asia, and Latin America. I am UK trained and alongside my work as a full-time classroom teacher, I have regularly tutored students in both group and 1:1 settings, supporting learners aged 7–18 across a wide range of abilities and backgrounds. My teaching career spans comprehensive schools, selective international schools, and bilingual environments, which has strongly shaped my adaptable and student-centred approach to tutoring. I am fully up to date with the latest online teaching methods and create a mature and centred figure in my lessons.

I have significant experience working with SEN pupils, particularly in my previous roles at two primary school in Herts, which have strong, well-established culture of inclusive practice and modern SEN support. I worked closely with children with a range of needs, including autism, ADHD, dyslexia, speech and language needs, and social-emotional difficulties, adapting lessons to support access, engagement, and progress. My approach draws on evidence-based strategies used across Hertfordshire schools, including clear routines, visual scaffolding, chunked instructions, concrete–pictorial–abstract progression in maths, and regular check-ins to support emotional regulation. I worked collaboratively with TAs, SENCo staff, and parents, using targeted interventions and ongoing assessment to adjust provision in real time. Above all, I focus on building trust and confidence, ensuring pupils feel safe, understood, and capable, which consistently leads to improved participation and learning outcomes.

In addition to tutoring, I have designed and refined over 100 interactive mathematics activities ranging from KS3 to IB level, many of which I use in tutoring sessions to keep learning active and engaging. I am comfortable tutoring both in person and online, using tools like collaborative digital whiteboards to maintain clarity and interaction.
