Charlees
Babysitter in Glasgow
My Summary
About Me
Hello! I love working with babies and children of all ages, from newborns to teenagers. I'm friendly, warm, responsible, and, according to the kids I've worked with, a lot of fun!
I'm currently taking a gap year before I return to university to train to become an occupational therapist. Previously, I studied Education and Social Policy at university, where I did placements in schools, nurseries and community education settings with primary-aged children. In my spare time, I volunteer with a literacy program for primary school children, supporting them to develop their reading and writing skills.
I have experience working with children with additional support needs, including autism, ADHD, physical disabilities, and Down syndrome. I'm more than happy to have a chat with you beforehand to understand your child's needs and how best to support them.
In my spare time, I love baking, cooking, and going for long walks in nature. I'm also an artist and a keen crafter, and I'm happy to do any of that with your kids!
I'm an auntie to three wonderful kids — a 14-month-old, a 13-year-old, and an almost 18-year-old.
(Note: I don't have a car at the moment, so I'm only able to work with folk who are local or where there are good public transport links from Glasgow!)
My Experience
I have five years of experience working with children and teenagers aged 10-18, and three years of experience working with children under 10. I also have personal experience caring for newborns, toddlers and young children.
I have experience with additional support needs — two of my close family members have disabilities, and I used to be a mentor with the National Autistic Society. I also volunteer with children in a literacy program, who often require additional support due to speech delays, dyslexia, or other reasons.
I myself have ADHD, so I have a pretty good understanding of the needs of neurodivergent kids, and genuinely enjoy working with them.
For a while, I was a tutor for a home-educated teenager, and I'm more than happy to provide help with homework, or tutoring in English, science, and art — just discuss it with me and I'll see what we can do!
