About Me

Hello! I’m Belinda. I’m a warm, patient and creative person who loves spending time with children and helping them feel safe, confident and happy.

I have many years of experience working with children in schools and community settings, including as a Teaching Assistant supporting pupils with additional needs. I find building positive relationships with children very rewarding and enjoy creating a supportive environment where they feel comfortable being themselves – whether that’s quiet moments like reading together, or the joyful chaos of imaginative play.

I naturally bring a sense of humour and playfulness when spending time with children, through stories, games, activities or simply finding ways to make everyday moments feel a bit more fun.

In my free time I enjoy reading, walking outdoors, music, theatre and creative projects. Alongside working with children, I’m also a writer developing illustrated stories that focus on emotional wellbeing and resilience for young readers. This reflects how important it is to me that children feel understood and supported, and is something I bring into the way I care for them.

I enjoy planning simple and engaging activities based on each child’s interests, and encouraging their curiosity through play. For example:

• arts and crafts
• imaginative play and storytelling
• outdoor adventures and nature walks
• board games and puzzles
• simple cooking activities
• helping with homework where needed.

My Experience

I worked as a Teaching Assistant at a primary school in Bath for three years, supporting children with a range of needs, including autism, communication differences, and social and emotional challenges. My role included providing 1:1 support, helping with classroom learning, running small group activities, and supporting children with routines, play and emotional regulation.

Alongside this, I worked as a playworker at an after-school club, where I planned activities, supervised play, and supported children’s friendships and independence.

My degree in Education with Psychology has given me a strong understanding of child development, and my work in mental health support strengthened my empathy, patience and ability to stay calm and steady in challenging situations.

Through these experiences, I have developed a strong awareness of safeguarding and the importance of creating environments where children feel safe, supported and valued.
Kindness, patience and clear communication are really important to me, and I always work closely with parents and carers to ensure consistency and support what works best for each family.

Please feel free to get in touch if you’d like to ask any questions or arrange a chat – I’d love to hear from you.
