My Summary

My Experience

I have worked with children for the past 11 years. I was an Au Pair in the US, then worked in a residential home for traumatised children, a youth club and a primary school in Germany before becoming a full time nanny when moving to London in 2012. I worked for the family for 2 years (2 boys, 8 weeks and 2 years when starting the job). After that I worked for a French family part time for a year in London while starting my degree and eventually I looked after a little girl for the last two years of my degree. My undergraduate degree is in Education with Psychology at the University of East London. I then did my MA in Globalising Education: Policy and Practice while looking after 2 children in Sheffield, a boy who was almost 5 when I started and a girl who was 1.5. I´ve worked for this family for 2 years while also starting my PhD (which I am still doing) and occasionally still look after them. I then worked at a Saturday playgroup for disabled children, where I was the deputy head but the playgroup was cancelled due to Covid and will not be resumed. I continue to babysit for 3 other families with a 3-year old boy and an almost 5-year old girl, and a family who have a girl aged 2 and two boys, 5 and 8.

My Qualifications

I have no childcare qualifications as such, however I have excellent references and have worked with children in many different contexts and have a background in education due to my degree. Just like parents, babysitters and nannies can be amazing at what they do, without having qualifications.

I have recently had a DBS check done for my job in the playgroup.

My Availability

Due to various commitments related to my studies, the playgroup and the irregular babysitting hours, I don´t have as much time for nannying as before but I also have a lot of flexibility to fill in here and there or babysit on a more irregular basis.
