About Me
My Name is Shelley Gourlay and I am a qualified Primary Teacher. I have been teaching for 12 years in Croydon and I have recently moved to the Leighton Buzzard area with my family. Throughout my career I have mainly spent my time teaching KS1, Year 2 in particular, although I have taught in key stage 2. I have very strong knowledge of both the Year 1 Phonics Screening Check and the National Curriculum SATS for Year 2.
I can offer tutoring sessions for KS1 and lower KS2 children who need more support and confidence with their English and Maths skills/knowledge.
I am currently on maternity leave but can offer tutoring sessions late afternoons and over the weekends.
My Experience
I have been teaching now for 12 years. I had one and a half years out of work on maternity leave with my son, and currently with my daughter. I have mainly taught KS1 and have very strong subject knowledge of the year 2 curriculum. I have also had roles as middle management in both my previous schools. I was English subject lead as my first management role and then moved on to Year Group Leader for a five form entry school as my second. In my most recent workplace I have been on the senior leadership team and have led Maths across the school.
My Qualifications
QTS Fully Qualified Primary Teacher. I am a fully qualified Primary Teacher. I have been teaching for 12 years. I have worked as Head of English, Head of Maths, Head of Year and PE curriculum lead.
