About Me
I have 2 lovely girls, aged 5 & 7. Help is required primarily to support learning for my oldest daughter, who has autism and is largely non-verbal. I’m looking for somebody who can provide learning support and guidance for things like homework, eating/table habits, a reliable home routine, but also and especially someone who can be fun, stimulating, engaging. I’d like you to help her to engage with activities that are perhaps a little harder for her to access or maybe need extra supervision - swimming, dancing, trampolining, and anything else you might think is suitable. She’s a loving, playful, happy girl and I really want her to have a broad range of fun and enriching experiences with someone she feels bonded to.
My Requirements
We're looking for someone to work a minimum of 12 hours a week, preferably someone with an ABA or similar invention-based background, but this is not an absolute necessity as an innate connection and understanding will always be more important. Training in formal intervention is available should we (together) decide that that’s important. As well as sourcing/attending lots of social activities, you would also be responsible for assisting with toileting/toilet, mealtimes and encouraging a wider diet, and some academic/educational tasks and activities. Experience in music therapy/education would be an advantage as this is something we'd like to introduce. Occasional babysitting duties for both children, and, as my eldest suffers with asthma, extra hours when this necessitates time off school would be available/desirable. Some simple meal preparation would be involved. You would have plenty of sole charge time, but also be happy to integrate with the whole family and provide support in joining routines, communicating etc.
You’d occasionally have sole charge of my younger daughter, who is equally sweet and fun, to allow me to attend some of my eldest’s activities, to keep up with her progress and also to have some lovely one on one time with her.
