A True Home-from-Home
My setting is more than just childcare—it's a home where children feel loved, safe, and happy.
I live with my husband Steve (a local farmer), our gentle border collie Jethro, and four friendly cats—all used to little ones. Steve and I are both fully DBS-checked, and my Ofsted-registered assistant (my lovely mother-in-law) is on hand when needed.
My own two children, Megan (22) and Alfie (17), have grown up in this caring, child-friendly environment and are kind, respectful, and well-adjusted young adults.
Play, Learn & Grow Together
We embrace the joy of simple pleasures and hands-on learning:
Story time in our cozy cabin
Music sessions, arts & crafts, and messy play
Cooking, baking, and growing vegetables from seed
Nature walks, bird spotting, and puddle-jumping

Seasonal activities like pumpkin carving and kite flying in the spring
Every day is a new adventure!

It is hard to put into words the environment that Janine provides for our little boy. We were your typical nervous first time parents after being told we may never be able to have children so making the step to look into childcare was huge for us. Janine aka Nee Nee provides a safe and warm home beyond our expectations of a childminder. She treats Cooper as her own giving him so much love when we are not able to be with him. I know that with Nee Nee I have no worries he is in the safest of hands.
He has developed so much in terms of his words and social skills. Janine said when he first started that the first few tough days would pass and she was so right. He absolutely adores his days at Nee Nee’s and goes running to the door so excited to see her. She keeps us in the loop with regular updates on his adventures with his friends. He has found a love of crafts and I have no doubt that is done to Janine. We love seeing him create and bring things home so excited to show us. I only wish he could stay longer but I know later this year he will embark on his next journey which is going to be tough for us all. The bond he has built with Nee Nee is so special.
We’d be lost as a family having to both work full time without the support of Janine and Cooper would certainly not have developed into the gentle chap he has without her by his side.
We will be forever grateful x

Over the past 5 years both my daughter and then my son attended Janine’s childminding setting. They both loved it. She offers a wonderful, caring and creative setting, arranging lots of fun activities for all. I can highly recommend!

After looking into local nurseries and childminders, I knew I wanted our son to go to Janine’s. When I visited I loved the outdoor space and the homely feel in the house. Our son is a sensitive child who was super clingy before he started going to Janine’s and after the first week he was happy to leave us and we could tell he was having a lovely time. Now he’s even sad to leave Janine each day! It’s a safe home environment where all the family are lovely (my son particularly loves Janine’s husband, Steve). They do all sorts of games, arts and crafts - we love the handmade bits and bobs that come home. Our son has learnt a lot with Janine. He’s grown in confidence, social skills, fine motor skills and communication. He always eats well and sleep well when he is there and Janine follows home routines in terms of naps, snacks, medication, potty training, etc. We honestly couldn’t have asked for a more perfect place for our child because it suits his needs to a T. We’ll be sad when the time comes to leave Janine’s but hope to send any future children there too!

My son has been with Janine since he was 12 months when I went back to work. Starting childcare in the middle of a pandemic was daunting but Janine put us all at ease and my son has loved going to Nene's ever since.
Janine provides an exceptional environment for the children and provides amazing care as well. I have noticed my sons language development is ahead of his other friends and also his emotional development and understanding has been accelerated by being with someone who is so well informed, caring, fun and creative.
The children have a wonderful time and are always learning new things. Janine adapts to different needs and interests of the children, for example, my son loves to get outside and play in the garden or go on nature walks or to the park but also enjoys making and creating things in the house as well as playing with the toy cars and garage!
My son (now 3) will be moving on to in the next few months but being at Nene's has prepared him well and he will definitely miss his time there. My twins will be starting with Janine at the same time and we are looking forward to starting their journey in this special childcare setting.

My daughter started at Janine's when she was 12 months old, and I had never left her up until this point. Needless to say the thought of going back to work was causing lots of anxiety. I'm a first time single mum and had no idea where to begin in the search for childcare. I'm fortunate to live in the same village as Janine and luckily for me she was recommended by everyone I spoke to on the daily walks with my daughter. The recommendations definitely pushed me in the direction of Janine, instead of a Nursery, and thank goodness they did. From our very first meeting, I knew this was the right setting for my daughter. Her home is spotlessly clean (I have no idea how she manages this !) And her garden is large and spacious, with a cabin for the children to play in. But aside from this, Janine is so warm kind and caring and incredibly knowledgeable and professional. Whenever I have questions she is my go to woman and I'm never made to feel stupid ! She provides me with regular updates to make me feel at ease, and this honestly makes all the difference. 4 months on and my little girl is thriving. Her speech is incredible for a girl of her age (she definitely hasn't got this from me !) She has gone from no routine and contact napping to a solid routine and naps independently for a long stretch which was unheard of before Janine (as I said life changing). We rarely have tears at drop off and she just seems so happy when I collect her. She also regularly comes home with various arts and crafts, which she is super proud of. I'm so greatful "nene" is in our lives, I'm able to focus on my career feeling super confident my baby is happy and cared for. Would thoroughly recommend.

My daughter is now turning three and moving onto nursery. Janine has offered a nurturing and wonderful environment to help her grow over the past 20 months or so. My daughter is always so excited in the morning to be going to "Nini's" and it's been a great weight off my mind knowing she is enjoying herself whilst I'm at work. Janine is highly experienced and incredibly professional in everything she does.

My daughter has been with Janine since she was 15 months old, starting 3 days and now moving up to 4 days a week. Over the last 10 months, her confidence has come on leaps and bounds. She has become more sociable with other children and developed a wide range of new interests including painting, puzzles, books and a new curiosity on walks. A testament to the wonderful and nurturing environment Janine has to offer in her setting. My daughter is very happy at Janine's and so I can thoroughly recommend.

From the very first meeting with Janine I knew she was special and I wasn’t wrong. She has provided truly exceptional childcare for my little girl, who, due to lockdown, was extremely anxious around anyone except me and my husband. We were so worried about how she’d cope away from us. Within weeks Janine had gained her trust and she’s now so confident and outgoing with adults and children - it’s been life changing!
Janine’s place is very clean and tidy, her garden is a lovely place to explore, and Janine herself is caring and nurturing, and you can see how much children in her care are relaxed and enjoy their time with her. She keeps you up to date and takes the time to give you a thorough report at the end of each day. My girl is a terrible sleeper but she sleeps so well there - as they’re given a quiet, separate space to have their naps. They also do lots of fun activities indoors and out.
Janine deserves her outstanding Ofsted rating - I really couldn’t ask for anything more. Thank you Janine!

Janine has been an excellent childminder for our daughter and I would highly recommend her. Our daughter had such a happy time during the 18 months she spent with Janine. She’s very creative and was often doing fantastic arts and crafts, which our daughter loved. Her home setting is great, very clean and tidy with lots of toys and resources for learning. The garden is fabulous, with plenty of space for little ones to run around. Janine is very hard-working and professional and thoroughly deserves the ‘outstanding’ rating and reputation that she has built up in the area over a number of years. Her manner with the little ones is brilliant, she is also warm, caring and good fun too. We’re very grateful to her for everything she did for daughter.

Thank you so much for your kind words Jo.
I enjoyed my time with your beautiful little girl and family, and I miss you all dearly.
Much love

Janine is the most wonderful childminder. She has nurtured and cared for both our boys over their early years since I went back to work in 2014. Her setting truly is a home from home - clean, tidy and child focused. I have never worried about whether my children were ok when they were at Janine’s - they always had an absolute blast and I knew that they would always be superbly well looked after. She is so warm, kind and caring, it’s obvious that she loves being around the kids and spending time with them all.
Janine is friendly and professional - just the right combination of both. She takes time to understand what your child’s particular needs are and ensures she follows what you do at home, whether that be nap schedules, weaning preferences, nappy preferences, potty training. She is so welcoming to the children and their family and always greets them warmly.
Janine is flexible and accommodating of changing work hours. I have worked some seriously antisocial shift patterns over the past 6 years and we have been able to arrange ad hoc child care days so that I can sleep after a night shift, for example. In the few instances where we have been unavoidably delayed due to an emergency (I work for the NHS) or a late train, it has been a godsend to know that Janine will be there to look after our son and to know that he is safe.
Her setting is amazing for outside space. The garden is wonderful and allows the children to be outside nearly all day. The surrounding area is fantastic for walks and nature trails. The kids do art, craft, music, games... I honestly couldn’t wish for more for my children in their first few years.
All our family love Janine. She is one in a million. We will miss our days at “Ni-NI’s” house immensely.
