My care is focused on 0-4 year olds and I also offer funding places. I have no commitment to school runs which allows me to concentrate on each individual child's feeding and sleep routine. I provide an early year’s education through play and exploring.
I have been a registered childminder for 17 years and have two children of my own, Megan 17 and Alfie 12 who are both in full time education. Meg and Alfie have always been content and socially acceptable around other children.
Myself and my husband Steve are fully police checked in accordance with my childminding registration requirements. Steve and I have been married for 16 years and together for 20 years. Steve works as a local Farmer and works between 7am and 6 pm. My mother in law is also registered on my Ofsted certificate as my assistant when needed.
Upstairs is also registered in the house as I believe children need to have an area to sleep and rest undisturbed as needed. Downstairs is open plan allowing full supervision of children. There is also a large enclosed garden. Fresh drinks are provided and fruit for snack time.
We frequently go on outside adventures such as, nature trails, splashing in puddles, poo sticks, picnicking or just to fly a kite. We visit soft play parks, and I am trained in story and music time as well as creating various arts and crafts and other activities.
I love the basics of life such as creating things out of shoe boxes and making music out of pots and pans. The seasons are a great way for children to learn and have fun. We have our own vegetable patch and have grown most of our vegetables from seeds so the children can get involved. We have a lovely cosy cabin which easily doubles up as a snug for story time together.
There are many birds and much wild life to explore with lovely walks in the local area. We often cook together and the children love to get involved with this. The children may get messy so a change of clothes and welly boots is helpful. (Pumpkin carving in the autumn is a favourite!)
I believe that the parent is the expert on their own child and I will endeavour to accommodate all of your wishes. Each child is treated as an individual and the more information I have the easier my job and the happier your child will be in my care. I do like to find time to have a brief information exchange at the start and end of each day. As a childminder I maintain strict confidentiality about you and your family at all times.
I have attended various training courses and keep up to date with continuous professional development.
References are available from previous parents and my existing clients are happy to provide more.
I have full break down cover. Safety equipment including appropriate car seats, pushchairs, sun blinds and a variety of toys in the car at all times. First aid kit available at all times.
Please note I will only accept children that have been fully immunised.

Janine has been an excellent childminder for our daughter and I would highly recommend her. Our daughter had such a happy time during the 18 months she spent with Janine. She’s very creative and was often doing fantastic arts and crafts, which our daughter loved. Her home setting is great, very clean and tidy with lots of toys and resources for learning. The garden is fabulous, with plenty of space for little ones to run around. Janine is very hard-working and professional and thoroughly deserves the ‘outstanding’ rating and reputation that she has built up in the area over a number of years. Her manner with the little ones is brilliant, she is also warm, caring and good fun too. We’re very grateful to her for everything she did for daughter.
Response by Janine Wheeler on 08/07/2020:
Thank you so much for your kind words Jo.
I enjoyed my time with your beautiful little girl and family, and I miss you all dearly.
Janine is the most wonderful childminder. She has nurtured and cared for both our boys over their early years since I went back to work in 2014. Her setting truly is a home from home - clean, tidy and child focused. I have never worried about whether my children were ok when they were at Janine’s - they always had an absolute blast and I knew that they would always be superbly well looked after. She is so warm, kind and caring, it’s obvious that she loves being around the kids and spending time with them all.
Janine is friendly and professional - just the right combination of both. She takes time to understand what your child’s particular needs are and ensures she follows what you do at home, whether that be nap schedules, weaning preferences, nappy preferences, potty training. She is so welcoming to the children and their family and always greets them warmly.
Janine is flexible and accommodating of changing work hours. I have worked some seriously antisocial shift patterns over the past 6 years and we have been able to arrange ad hoc child care days so that I can sleep after a night shift, for example. In the few instances where we have been unavoidably delayed due to an emergency (I work for the NHS) or a late train, it has been a godsend to know that Janine will be there to look after our son and to know that he is safe.
Her setting is amazing for outside space. The garden is wonderful and allows the children to be outside nearly all day. The surrounding area is fantastic for walks and nature trails. The kids do art, craft, music, games... I honestly couldn’t wish for more for my children in their first few years.
All our family love Janine. She is one in a million. We will miss our days at “Ni-NI’s” house immensely.
Janine has looked after our little boy for the last two years and is just wonderful. Her home setting is fantastic and her garden is a great outside space. She is considerate, caring and willing to go the extra mile. Our little boy loves going to "Ni-Ni's" house and we will all be very sad when he leaves. An outstanding childminder!
From the moment I met Janine I just knew she was the right person to look after our little boy. She is passionate, professional and outstanding at what she does but more than anything she is incredibly caring of the children she looks after.
Before we found Janine, I had looked at various nurseries and met a handful of childminders but none that made me feel as though the setting was quite right for us. Janine's house is homely, welcoming and clean and tidy and she has excellent resources and toys for developing growing minds. Her garden is amazing! Our son gets to enjoy music, arts and crafts, and other sensory activities. It's also lovely to see how brilliant her own children are with the little ones.
Janine herself has become more than just our son's childminder; she really nurtures our little boy and is a real partner to us. She listens to our concerns, offers great advice and as a result we really feel as though we're all working together. Our little W is headstrong (to say the least!) and has pushed boundaries since before The Terrible Twos, but Janine's patience and love means he had thrived in her care since Day 1.
We really cannot thank Janine enough and feel incredibly fortunate to have found her.
We feel so fortunate to have been able to send our daughter to Janine! When I started looking for childcare, our daughter was just over 1year old and the nurseries I looked at just didn't fill me with enough confidence. However, as soon as I stepped into Janines lovely welcoming home and started talking to her, I was instantly put at ease and knew that our daughter would have the best of care here.
Janine herself is very professional, warm, loving and passionate about her job. Shes very reassuring and gives great regular feedback. I've felt like I can approach her with anything and she's given me so much good advise over the time my daughter has been there. She has done wonders with our rather demanding little girl and really allowed her to flourish and grow. We can't thank her enough for the wonderful care and attention she's given her.
Her home is very clean, tidy and well organised and her garden is a fabulous area for play/learning/exploring! Her children are just wonderful and whenever I've seen them, they love being around the little ones.
