About Me
Hi, my name is Nena and I am a CIW registered childminder in Cardiff.
I am a mum of four; two sons aged 23 (lives away) and 11, and two daughters aged 18 and 5. I live in Penylan with my husband and children.
We have a cat, a lovely playroom and a garden.

My Experience
As a childminder, I have looked after children aged between six months to 11 years.
I have completed an additional qualification to become a better qualified, more knowledgable and experienced childminder. The level 3 Children's Care and Learning Development qualification covers topics such as: transitions, development, learning development, models of disability, safety, child protection including safeguarding, speech, language and communication and working with parents to meet the needs of the child.
As a mother, I have 18 years of parenting under my belt. My eldest is not far off leaving home for university and I am proud to say is a wonderful, happy, grounded, smart young man.
I used to work for the NSPCC and had my own children in childcare. I used a nursery and a childminder while my older two were growing up so I have been on the other side of the childcare coin and feel I can completely relate to the feelings parents having when leaving their children in childcare.
My Qualifications
I hold a QCF Level 3 in Children's Care and Learning Development qualification.
I am currently studying full time for a degree in childhood and youth studies.
I am a qualified first aider with paediatric first aid training. I have taken a food hygiene course and a child protection course. I have taken and passed the required childminding course.
I have also taken a course on the Foundation Phase (Wales) to understand the national curriculum taught to 3 to 7 year olds in Wales. I bring the ethos of learning through playing into my childminding setting.
My Availability
I offer before and after-school care for Marlborough Primary School.
I am open before school between 8:00am to 9:00am, and after school from 3:30pm to 6:00pm Monday to Friday.
I operate on a term time only basis (Cardiff Council published terms) but will consider holiday care in certain circumstances.

Nena had been childminding my 18 month old son, four days a week, for the last 8 months. She is absolutely brilliant, very friendly and great with kids. She kindly offered me a term time only contract, which was very unusual for this area as nobody seems to provide that kind of contract, despite it being vital for those working in education.
Nena does loads of great arts and crafts, so my son is always coming home with fun projects that he has worked on. She also takes him out regularly to soft play and just out and about (necessary when you're as energetic as my toddler is). I feel very lucky to have found such an excellent childminder, and would recommend her to anyone!
