About Me
My name is Vanessa Leyland and I live in the Feniscowles/Beechwood area of Blackburn. I offer childcare in a homely setting from a log cabin in my garden, where children in my care will feel calm, happy and stimulated. My own children went to childminders (now 21 and 23) I understand the value that such a service can provide, and how important it is that children are happy and well cared for. I also understand the need to provide parents with information and honest feedback regarding their child's day to day routine, including what they have been doing, what they have enjoyed or disliked, how long they have slept (if applicable), what they have eaten and their general behaviour. I do this by providing parents with a daily diary that details all of the above, so that they can have an insight into how their child has spent their day.
I became Ofsted registered in July 2013. I have public liability insurance and home and car insurance that are suitable for the purpose of childminding.
My Experience
I have worked with children for the past 16 years, in preschool, nurseries and special educational schools. I have gained a vast amount of experience in the differing roles during this time, but I feel my greatest attrubute in this area is the ability to understand and relate to children of all ages and what thier own indivdual needs are. I place great importance the health and happiness of the child but also in devloping independance.
My Qualifications
I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Childcare and education. I have qualifications in
• NVQ Level 2 and 3 in Childcare, Learning and Devlopment
• G.C.S.E Mathematics (B) English (B) Science (BB)
• Foundation Degree in Early Years and Education
• BA HONS Degree in Early Years and Education
I also have other revlevant training to ensure all children needs are catered for and best practise in health and safety requirments are met, and include
