Responsibilities
I am currently a Nursery nurse on the special care baby unit at my local hospital. My role is to care for individual babies and responding to their care needs and supporting them to thrive to be ready to be discharged. I work closely with parents to give them also as much support so once their baby is ready for discharge they feel confident to take them home as a journey on a neonatal unit can be very daunting, difficult, emotional and stressful environments for family’s we work with. Also in my role I carry out parent craft so this is teaching parents basic life support, supporting with breastfeeding, bathing the baby, safe sleep and also showing parents how to administer vitamins. I worked for the outreach team for a while which I enjoyed so we visited babies and families once they were discharged which I felt really helped families with the transition from hospital environment to settling in at home.
My Experience
I also have experience working with nursery age children where I was responsible running the baby room and then went on to running the ready for school age children to get them ready for their transition to big school!

Attended numerous courses eg working with parents , supporting children with special educational needs
I complete my yearly mandotray training within the NHS every year which include child protection, basic peadeatric resus , fire safety , infection control. I have recently become a mental health champion.
