About Me
Hi my name is Lorraine, I have been a registered childminder for 24 years. I live with my husband David in Central Middleton, Greater Manchester.
We live in a large terrace house with a dedicated playroom and a fully enclosed back garden for outdoor play. Within my childminding setting l provide a safe, caring and educational environment. I have a wide selection of equipment including toys, games and books. I also feel children learn a lot from the natural environment and benefit from social interaction with other children and adults, therefore I also take the children to the local parks, woods, library, soft play areas and toddler groups.
I am a Forest Childcare Provider and I feel that spending time outdoors is very important. I take the children to the local parks and to the woods for our forest school sessions.
I have choosen my profession and career as I gain a great deal of job satisfaction working and caring for children. I believe that caring for children is a partnership between parents and myself.
My Experience
I have worked with a wide range of children some who have had special needs, which has gained me a considerable amount of experience. I have also worked in a local primary school in the nursery and reception class for 1 day a week whilst I was completing my classroom assistant course.
My Qualifications
I have a NVQ Level 3 in Early Years Care and Education, Classroom Assistant Levels 1 and 2 and an up to date Paediatric First Aid Certificate.
I hold a Health and Food Hygiene Level 2 certificate as recommended by the Food Standards and completed Nutrition Skills Training Level 1.
I also hold a Fire Marsall Certificate and undertaken Child Protection Training.
I have undertaken Forest Childcare Training.
I am fully trained on the Early Years Foundation Stage and update my knowledge by attending regular training sessions.
I am an accredited childminder therefore qualified to deliver the 15/30 hours funded childcare from nine months old and I have achieved high 5 stage 5 the highest level in Rochdale's quality assurance award.
My last Ofsted inspection was July 2025 my grading was good.

After having a really difficult experience at a local nursery, we had to pull our son out immediately. I messaged Lorraine on the Friday, and by the very next day we were sitting in her home chatting about Patrick potentially joining her. From the moment we met her, we just knew. She showed us folders full of days out, activities, and arts and crafts she does with the children, and her level of care and love honestly blew us away. We didn’t even consider looking anywhere else.
Patrick has been with Lorraine since September and he is absolutely thriving. He adores her and the other children she looks after. At drop-off he leans straight into Lorraine, and at pick-up he often doesn’t want to leave — which tells me everything I need to know.
Lorraine communicates with me regularly throughout the day, which means the world to me. I always know how Patrick is doing, what he’s been up to, and how his day has been. She also writes messages in his diary about what he’s done each day — it’s clear how much attention and care she gives every single child.
Patrick is constantly busy, having fun, learning, and growing through all the activities Lorraine carefully plans. I never worry when he’s with her because I know he’s safe, happy, and genuinely cared for. Lorraine is so much more than just a childminder — she’s someone we completely trust with our son, and we feel incredibly lucky to have found her. My partner and I truly couldn’t recommend her highly enough.

It can be hard to be apart from your child but you do need some time for yourself!!! We came across Lorraine and sending Amoz to be cared by her has been one of the best decisions!! Amoz started being looked after Lorraine just before his first birthday and for the past 2 years we couldn't have been happier. He has enjoyed every day out in sunny or rainy days. He has loved "cooking" in the mud kitchen and singing time in the library. Lorraine has taught him so much as well as helping him develop his confidence and we couldn't be more grateful! We are expecting our 2nd child and with no doubt will be sending him/her with Lorraine when the time comes. Thank you for all the love and care!! 🩵🩵

We have been so lucky to have found Lorraine! Our son Ziggy, has been going to Lorraine for just over 9 months & since he was 14 months old. He is really happy there, and settled in well.
Lorraine provides a very happy, safe environment. She has a really great set up - a great collection of toys & books, musical instruments.
Ziggy is always getting up to fun activities like outings, baking, crafts, library , walks, story time. she also makes sure they get out and about to the park, to the local soft play which he absolutely loves ( outdoorsy baby)
Lorraine, keeps in touch with me during the day, sending me little pics of what Ziggy is getting up to. Which I absolutely love, as well as a daily diary of what Ziggy gets up to each day with all the info on what he ate ( very good food variety btw ) when he slept ect.
His confidence and language skills are blossoming under Lorraine’s care
And he’s definitely come out of his little shell 🐚
Definitely recommend Lorraine
It’s a 5 start from our family 🌟

At first I was a little hesitant about my son going to a childminder but I came across Lorraine’s profile and I am very happy that I did. My son has settled in really well and looks forward to going to see Lorraine and his friends every week. She takes them to lots of amazing fun places and keeps me updated with pictures throughout the day. My son likes to tell me about all the fun things that they have done. You will not be disappointed if you choose Lorraine to look after your child 😊

Our little boy Amoz wakes up every morning asking for Lorraine! He loves spending time with her and with his friends. We love receiving photos of Amoz throughout the day so we can see what he is up to and we love his notebook with details of all the activities and personal improvements he does every week. Amoz is only speaking Spanish at the moment but Lorraine knows him very well and always makes sure he is getting what he needs. We are very grateful to have found her!!

I was so nervous about leaving my daughter with anybody else but she has really thrived under Lorraine’s care. We love all the activities and outside time that Lorraine provides, they’re always fun but educational. Another worry I had was our daughters dietary requirements but Lorraine has been more than accommodating, I couldn’t recommend her more.

I can’t recommend Lorraine enough, we are very fortunate to have found her. She provide a home from home, an outstanding level of care along with fun days out, a range of daily activities to engage the children and support their learning and development. There are so much for the kids to do, Lorraine never runs out of the ideas! Camilla settle in very quickly and absolutely loves coming in. If you are looking for the best childminders around then look no further❤️

My daughter started with Lorraine in May 2023 when she was 20 months old and this is one of the best decisions I made since I moved to Manchester.
I was quite impressed when we went to look around at Lorraine’s. She had this folder of documents and explained how she works to me in detail. And just the organisation of the room and the labels told me she knew what she was about. I am very pleased with my daughter’s progress, she picked up a lot of things quickly because of the older kids she met there.
Daily she takes them out and plans activities for them. She sends pictures to keep us updated and keeps a daily record of their activities in the notebook. I hardly have to ask anything because I’m up to speed with what’s going on. She also gives them healthy food to eat.
Lorraine is genuinely interested in early years learning and this shows in all the activities she plans for the kids, the outings, the toys, games and books. I cannot recommend her enough. It’s every parent’s wish to be at peace that your child is being properly cared for and I definitely get that with Lorraine. I have no regrets.

I had my son during lockdown due to this he had been with me constantly and we both were inseparable . I tried to get him into two different nursery’s and for months he just would not settle. I started to look online for a childminder and came across Lorraine and David. After getting in contact with Lorraine we arranged to have a look around. Straight away from meeting Lorraine I knew I wanted my little boy to attend. His first day came quickly I was anxious to be apart from my son while I went to work. On arrival I bumped in to another parent who assured me my son would be just fine and settle in. Of course the first day he was a little unsettled but I couldn’t thank Lorraine enough for keeping me updated via WhatsApp sending me photos and messages of how he was getting on. Within five minutes I received a picture of my son happily playing and settled. After day two of him attending Lorraine’s he started to run in without any problems. Since going to Lorraine’s and David’s my son has reached so many mile stones and has become such a clever boy. He came home counting and spelling words just to add my son wasn’t even two at this point. Lorraine takes the children out everyday and they engage in many activities indoor and out door. My son has gained so much confidence and knowledge I could not be happier. He now also ask to go to Lorraine’s on the days he doesn’t attend. I now advise any friends with children too look in to childminders as it has been an amazing experience for me as a first time mum. With him being so unsettled in the two nurseries before I could not believe how much he loves and wants to be at Lorraine’s and David’s.

We were incredibly nervous about our son as he hadn't settled in at nursey settling sessions. Lorraine took him in her stride and I feel he settled in within a matter of days and really put our minds at ease.
The activities they get up to and the places they go are fantastic, they get out every day, is exactly what we would be doing with our son and almost feels like an extension of our family. We get updates and pictures throughout the day and a diary at the end of the day of what they have been up to, eaten and how well they have slept.
I couldn't recommend Lorraine & David enough. They say everything happens for a reason and I feel our son didn't settle at nursey so we could find Lorraine x
