Hi my name is Lorraine, I have been a registered childminder for 19 years. I live with my husband David in Central Middleton, Greater Manchester.
David works along side me as my assistant he has been deemed suitable to work with children by Ofsted and under gone all the relevant safety checks. David holds a paediatric first aid certificate and up to date safe guarding training.
We live in a large terrace house with a dedicated playroom and a fully enclosed yard for outdoor play. Within my childminding setting we provide a safe, caring and educational environment. We have a wide selection of equipment including toys, games and books. We also feel children learn a lot from the natural environment and benefit from social interaction with other children and adults, therefore we also take the children to the local parks, woods, library, soft play areas and toddler groups.
I am a Forest Childcare Provider and I feel that spending time outdoors is very important. I take the children to the local parks and to the woods twice a week for our forest school sessions.
I have choosen my profession and career as I gain a great deal of job satisfaction working and caring for children. I believe that caring for children is a partnership between parents and myself.
I have worked with a wide range of children some who have had special needs, which has gained me a considerable amount of experience. I have also worked in a local primary school in the nursery and reception class for 1 day a week whilst I was completing my classroom assistant course.
I have a NVQ Level 3 in Early Years Care and Education, Classroom Assistant Levels 1 and 2 and an up to date Paediatric First Aid Certificate.
I hold a Health and Food Hygiene Level 2 certificate as recommended by the Food Standards Agency and completed Nutrition Skills Training Level 1.
I also hold a Fire Marsall Certificate and undertaken Child Protection Training.
I have undertaken Forest Childcare Training.
I am fully trained on the Early Years Foundation Stage and update my knowledge by attending regular training sessions.
I am an accredited childminder therefore qualified to deliver the 15/30 hours free entitlement for two and three/ four year olds and I have achieved high 5 stage 5 the highest level in Rochdale's quality assurance award.
My last Ofsted inspection was July 2019 my over all grade was good and outstanding regarding the personal development, behaviour and welfare.

My little girl has been going to Lorraine and David since she was 10 months old, she is now due to start school in September but, will continue to stay with Lorraine before and after school - (we had the option to take her to the before and after school club that the school provide but, I feel like they have developed a lovely bond and I want that to continue for as long as it can).
At first I was very nervous about returning to work and leaving her with people I didn’t really know! (It’s very scary picking people to look after your children off a website!!) However, both Lorraine and David were very welcoming and friendly – they offered settling in days/hours where I could take my baby for a couple of hours a week to get her ready for when I returned to work.
During her time in their care, my little girl has come on amazingly!! She was holding a pen correctly and writing her name before she was 3 years old! She has always been way above her milestones and I do hand on heart think that Lorraine and David have done the majority of this; they really are real life ‘Mary Poppins’.
Lorraine provides a daily record of what activities they do every day – this also includes ‘feeds’, ‘toileting’ and ‘sleeps’ (all very important when they are looking after your little one, and its everything a Mum and Dad want to know). She sends pictures throughout the day to show that they are having fun and learning something new – I always love seeing these and don’t feel like I’m missing out too much either as I can talk to my little girl when I pick her up about all the things she’s been doing!
I honestly cannot recommend this couple enough! If you are in the area and Lorraine has availability, book in for a chat and have a look for yourself, you will not be disappointed.

Thank you Lisa for such a fantastic review 😁
Lorraine & David have looked after both my children from being 6 months old. My eldest is now 9 and attends after school . Both of my girls love going to Lorraine and I am filled with confidence that they are getting the best care whilst I work. Lorraine teaches the children so much that when my youngest attended school she had already done all of the work set for reception. The Forrest school that they do is amazing and both kids thoroughly enjoy it. Lorraine was also very supportive when it came to potty training the girls. We would be lost with both Lorraine and David

Thank you Angela for such an amazing review.
My 2 children have been going to Lorraine and David now for over 12 months. Both of my children adapted very quickly and very well to the fun environment. I was very impressed on my first visit to meet Lorraine and David and was provided will all relevant information/ copies of certificates / qualifications and evidence of work and activities my children will be undertaking. My children really enjoy going here in the school holidays, they enjoy baking, trips to the woods, lots of fun activities, trips out and to the sure start/play centres. As well as having fun they are also learning to read/write/draw/Paint/create/ socialise and interact with other children. They enjoy learning about different topics and genuinely love the interaction they receive. Very kind, easily approachable and professional people would definitely recommend.

Wow thank you Chantel for such an amazing review😀
Lorraine and David have had both my children and is still currently taking care of one aged 2 years old. They have helped both my children settle in straight away and been caring and loving with them. Progress has been amazing and if they have had any concerns I have been told straight away. Their learning files are sent home for us to take look at our children’s progress and what the next steps are for them, which is important as a parent , so that we can be involved to help them at home. My children have bonded really well with Lorraine and David and love going to their loving, safe and clean home to spend the day there. They have both made me feel that my children are safe and happy throughout the day. My youngest son aged 2 years is able to hold a pencil correctly and draw, he can also count to 10 and knows his colours and much more! Lorraine and David are very helpful and friendly, we have a good friendship and I can trust them knowing they do their absolute best to take care of my children. My son who is still currently going eats much better at their house and enjoys all the different fruit they offer him.

Thank you Rachel for such a fantastic review😀
My daughter has been with Lorraine now for almost a year, she settled in nicely and absolutely loves going. Lorraine is very professional, writing daily journals from soiled nappies, sleep time too and from, foods eaten through out the day and amounts and daily activities and more! Daily photos sent from activities done, which always makes me smile at work! Always out and about in walks, play centres and libraries etc and also time at the house learning and playing. I was so frightened about leaving her with a total stranger but Lorraine quickly gained my confidence and My daughters. I have even recommended her to my friend who has not been able to start due to the Covid-19 outbreak but is wanting to meet and possibly send her child there too. Lorraine has made the whole transition of going back to work a lot easier than I imagined. Also people around who know her have said she is lively and that is true. Even during the Covid-19 outbreak she’s texting checking in asking how my daughter and even myself and other are doing.
