About Me

I am a self motivated individual with a long term aspiration to work with children. I have completed two years studying in Early Education and Childcare in college, working in a nursery placement every week enabled me to learn about children's needs and how to plan age and stage appropriate experiences to in order to promote concentration and stimulate children. I have worked since the young age of 14 working in a hotel doing various duties from dish washing to cleaning to making beds to waitressing. I moved away from home at 17 to attend college and to take on my first flat. I am also a highland dancing teacher teaching children from the ages of 3-12. I finished college with an NC and HNC in June last year and began working in a private nursery in October 2014 for just over 2 months I began working for West Dunbartonshire Council. I have been qualified now for 5 years and worked in various council nurseries with lots of children with different levels of needs and also at different ages and stages, I have worked with ages 0-5 and have gained hundreds of knowledge and experience from other staff, through experiences and also lots of different types of training.

My Experience

PROFILE
Young, self-motivated individual with the capacity to deal with the public at all levels. Gained valuable experience whilst working in the hospitality sector dealing with tourists from all over world who visited South Usit. I’m used to working under pressure and dealing with cash and credit card transactions. I can work well as part of a team but have the confidence to work on my own initiative. Although I am at the early stages of my career, I consider myself hard-working, honest and reliable and would be an asset to any business.
ACHIEVEMENTS
Started Highland dancing competitively at the age of 8 and have won many medals & accolades. I also passed various theory and dancing exams and I am now a qualified Highland dance teacher. I taught 30 children in South Uist and now I teach primary children in the Gaelic school in the Glasgow West End two days a week.
From the age of 13, I worked in my local hotel doing everything from waitressing, reception, cleaning, making up rooms and helping out in the kitchen. This gave me the confidence to deal with any situation that may arise when dealing with members of the public and the self-assurance to move to the mainland on my own.
In August 2012, I moved to Glasgow and took possession of my first flat and started studying Childcare at Clydebank College. During my two years in college I was in placement in three different nurseries which gave me the experience and knowledge of the way nurseries work and helped me to become an effective childcare practitioner.

INTERESTS
I volunteered at a youth club encouraging young children to take part in sports and various other activities. I also took part in a week of feis with children ages 3-5 encouraging them to speak Gaelic whilst they played games and enjoyed themselves.
I love teaching children and enjoy watching their education progress as they grow older. I’m determined, dedicated and love tackling problems and get a feeling of immense satisfaction when I get the results I desire.
I enjoy athletics and sport and exercising is something I do very often. Keeping fit keeps me on my toes as working with children is very demanding and tiring and I’m often told you need eyes in the back of your head!
