About Me

(Age 23) I have just finished a music degree at Edinburgh college and about to start a degree in Adult Nursing at the University of Glasgow. I previously took a few years out of education where I travelled, volunteered and worked in hospitality as well as childminding. I find it important to interact with the children I look after. I create a variety of games and activities for myself and the children I watch to participate in including arts and crafts, music, sports and educational activities. I am also happy to help out with homework, cooking meals, and chores around the house. My priority is to make sure the children are happy and that you as parents are happy with the way that I work.

My Experience

I have worked with adolescence with autism which was incredibly rewarding. I have also volunteered in a nursery where I worked with infants from the ages of 2 to 14 months. Throughout my last years at school I volunteered in three classes of different ages (5 - 8) were I helped with their learning and self development. I have also worked with foreign children helping them to learn english (aged 6/7).
Alongside this I looked after 3 children 3 days a week aged between 2 - 8 for just under 2 years. Here I helped around the house as well as helped with homework, took the children on outings and came up with a variety of fun and educational activities I could do with the children. I find it incredibly rewarding to see how quickly children can grow into their own person and to be able to be a part of that is very special. I also looked after a family of 6 (4 children) for a short period of time whilst they were needing a little bit of extra help over the summer period. Again this it is very nice to be able to help out a family when they are needing a little extra help.

My Qualifications

I have an HND in Popular Music. And I am currently studying Nursing at The University of Glasgow.

I do believe that music can be a great tool to help children develop and learn. If I am caring for a child a lot of the time the family I work for are looking for me to encourperate some sort of learning activity into the child's day so I do a range of things such as puzzles, games, singing, rhymes etc. I also do the occasional freelance music lesson so I have some experience in teaching.

I have previously stated that I worked with adolescence with autism. This was a great opportunity for me to learn the value of patience and expand my knowledge on how to take care of someone with special needs. As well as this I volunteered for an after school club in which I helped children with learning disabilities and children who for not speak English with arts and crafts and homework.
