About Me

I am a qualified teacher and an Ofsted registered CRB checked childminder(EY 413686). I was judged Outstanding in my first inspection in January 2011. I have many years experience of teaching and caring for young children. As well as having four children of my own (youngest now 19), I also have a two grandchildren.

I have recently moved to Kent in order to look after my grandchildren and I have space for one more full time child. This may suit you if you are returning to work after maternity leave and would like your baby or child to enjoy a family atmosphere, healthy home cooked food and being in the local community, whilst benefitting from lots of active play; personalised learning and exploration of materials and places.
I believe is learning from the real world, so we spend a lot of time out and about I encourage children to be independent and to help with food preparation and clearing up.

My Experience

After completing my teaching degree, in 1980 I worked as a Nanny then a Childminder and ran a toddler group, while caring for my three young children. We then moved overseas where I spent three years teaching a nursery class for children from two and a half to five.

On returning to England in 1990, I did a mixture of part time, temporary and supply teaching , mainly at Willowbank and Bradninch, until my last child was born in 1994. At this time I was working in a pastoral role at Blundell's School and also opened a small pre nursery group.

In 1997 I returned to teaching, joining a primary school in Exeter, first part time in 2000, then full time in 2001 until I left in the Summer of 2010 to open Tall Tree Natural learning centre. I spent most of this time teaching Foundation Stage, although I have also taught years 1, 2, 3 and 4.
Over the past three years at Tall trees I have Childminded a total of twenty five children, though never more than seven at any one time and with the help of one of four assistants. I have really valued gaining experience of looking after a group of babies and toddlers together.

Thoroughly recommended.

Oliver has been looked after by Jane since before he was five months old.

He loves going to spend time with her and benefits hugely from her attentive care and the company of other children.

Jane has been extremely flexible to accommodate all of our childcare needs
