My Experience

St Dominic's nursery March 2015 -present
Room leader/supervisor

Alderley Day Nursery Montessori. March 2012– March 2015
-Nursery Nurse
Here I have worked delivering the EYFS curriculum as well teaching using the Montessori methods and teaching children how to use the equipment correctly. I have supported children in refining their senses as well as their fine and gross motor skills. Within the Montessori curriculum, I also teach children basic literacy and mathematics. I have key children that I work with, which I observe and plan next steps for in order for them to progress and to enhance their learning experiences. I have developed strong partnerships with parents and professionals that work within the setting or visit. I attend staff meeting once a month whereby, I always make a positive contribution and at times have planned staff training sessions in regard to the importance of the outdoors for children’s learning. I believe children learn in a great variety of ways and while working here I have shown my ability to adapt my teaching to suit that of the children. I also keep records of all my key children and track their progress and inform parents so they are up to date. I attend parent evenings to talk to parents about progress made and what next steps are going to be implemented and to answer any questions they may have. In this setting I am designated outdoors coordinator, and I am responsible for making sure staff and children are gaining as much as they can from the outdoors and to ensure the outdoor environment is used in an educational way as well as a space for physical play and exploration.

Young Explorers Childcare. 2009 – 2011

While working at the setting, I was a keyworker to a number of children and I have gained experience working with children that have Autism and Speech and language difficulties as well as children that have behaviour difficulties. I gained an in depth, knowledge of the EYFS curriculum. I gained experience in leading and directing activities.
