Hello! My name is Ellen. I am a creative, calm and warm person who really enjoys working and playing with children, in particular furthering their artistic experiences. Having had nannies myself growing up, I know what an impact a playful approach can have. I am an artist and filmmaker and love sharing my skills with children.
I am looking for a part time role (25/30 hours a week), ideally I'd love to find a creative family with younger children who I can support. I'm open to a live-in arrangement where accommodation is subtracted from working hours. If you think I can help your family in some way please get in touch. I look forward to hearing from you!
My Experience
Alongside my creative work, I have worked as a nanny on and off for the last 10 years, gaining experience with children from 9 months all the way up to teenage. I'm still in touch with a lot of the families I've worked with over the years!
The family I spent the most time with had a 10 month old and a 2.5 year old, I started off full time and then moved to part time as they started nursery, then school. Prior to that I worked with two children, aged 8 and 9, working part time hours during school time and full days during the holidays. I have experience with baby duties, accompanying to and from school / nursery, preparing dinner, playing, orchestrating creative activities and playdates, home work and bed time routine as well as over night care.
I graduated in 2015 from Falmouth University with a First class degree studying Photography. In the summer of 2015 I set up a series of art workshops for children with a friend, running in both Falmouth and London. We were both interested in alternate methods of artistic education and decided to form Thingumy & Bob Art Club, a mutually respectful art community for children. We explored modern and classical artists, from Matisse to Frida Khalo, in an attempt to develop both children's knowledge, and practical ability.
For a few years, alongside nannying, I was also part of a professional children's face painting team, working for corporations such as London Zoo, Hamleys, Cats the musical and Kew Gardens.
