About Me

I am a 43 year old mother of 2 children. Alfie is 14 years and Amber is 12 years old. I'm also a step mum to Jake 16 years and Sam 11 years.

I love children and have been working with them in a variety of settings, and with varied needs, since my teenage years, so have extensive child care experience. I've worked with children from newborn to teens, in many different settings such as, in my own home; their homes; nurseries; schools; playgroups; football clubs and special need units.

My children are older now and very independent, so I no longer require the term time hours to fit around them and feel it’s time for me to take my many skills and my passion for working with children, to offer my services in someone else’s home, on a more 1-2-1 basis.

You will find me to be patient, calm, energetic, confident and creative, and I feel I would be a valuable addition to your family and prized possessions. I am an enthusiastic individual, with a motivated but laid back personality. My key assets are my personality, my approach and my ability to communicate, with children and adults at all levels and abilities. I have a great sense of humour and a firm but fair approach with a high emphasis on respect and manners, as well as being very approachable and always available for cuddles. I believe flexibility is a must when working with children and families, and promise to give 100% dedication and commitment to you and your child/children.

I have lived in my home for 17 years and have a huge family and friend support network, which I’d love to eventually bring into my new role and the family I join, for days out and activities together. I am honoured to have children from as long as 25 years ago, contact me via social media to chat and talk about their early experiences with me as their teacher/carer, which makes me feel so special but also confirms my abilities and the impression I made on their lives. I am a massive animal lover and would be more than happy to include walking your dog, or caring for your pets, amongst my duties.

I love life, nature, creativity and children and therefore combining all these things together, and helping children grow and achieve their own potentials physically, emotionally, intellectually and creatively, is a joy for me as much as it is a job. I see our children as our future, therefore, encouraging them to be healthy, open minded, respectful, individual and believe in themselves and their potential, as well as stretching their thoughts, imagination and academic abilities, is my main focus.

My Experience

I am NNEB (NVQ level 3) trained in childcare, fully CRB checked, paediatric first aid trained for over 20 years, and have a good knowledge and considerate training in special needs areas, such as Autism, Asperger’s, ADHD and Attachment disorder. I have attended a variety of early learning and specialised training courses as well as many medical and awareness training days.

As well as my qualifications, I have extensive child care experience in many different settings. Initially I started out as a babysitter, then onto training as an NNEB, with 0-8 years experience in a variety of roles, including maternity, special needs, homes and playgroups. Next, I took a temporary position as a live-in nanny to a 4-week old baby, helping his mum to bond and care for her son. Then I began working within private and social services nurseries and a private prep school. Once my own children arrived, I worked part-time as a school dinner lady, childminder in my own home and now currently as a learning support teacher, in a specialised behavioural SEN unit, within a school.

I am a confident driver with my own car and have always been a non-smoker. I love the outdoors, pets and wildlife, with an emphasis on learning through play and positive early learning experiences and opportunities, as well as through academic learning. I have always had a natural rapport with children and am fun, with a bubbly, easy-going personality. I enjoy preparing healthy balanced meals for children as well as baking with them and I love teaching and assisting their natural creativity and expression, through music and art, of which I specialise in.
