Hi, my name is Katie and I am 17!years old. I'’ currently studying in college for alevels although I finish first year next week. Once I finish, hours for babysitting would be a lot more negotiable as I'd be available a lot more. I am happy to have a DBS check and have available first aid training if the parents/carers do so wish. People have said that I'm very trustworthy, and I'm able to use my own initiative to handle any problems that will occur.
My Experience
As I'm only 17, experience is very limited. For my work experience, I went to 'Westside Day Nursery', and I mainly spent time in the toddler room (ages 2-3) during the week, with a few sessions in preschool (3+). The nursery didn't have many babies, and due to it being work experience I wasn't really allowed to pick up any children. However, in January 2016 my older sister, who was then 17, had her own baby girl, and as she was still living at home I was very hands on in helping change nappies, get her dressed, get her to sleep etc. She and the baby's father have both had trust in me to babysit my niece alone since I was (then) 15.
My Qualifications
The only qualification I can think of mentioning is my health ad social gcse exam which I passed last year. Within health and social at school, we learn all about insufficient/sufficient care, and so I have a good understanding on care values within a health and social setting (such as confidentiality, respect and dignity).
My Availability
My college runs from 9am-4pm however my days aren’t never full from 9-4. I am happy to work late on in evenings, as long as I can arrange to get home (which usually isn't a problem due to family members driving). I would happily babysit through the night on Fridays and Saturdays, and anytime within the day too. I do however have a part time job at mcdonald’s and so depending on what days I’d babysit i can change my availability at work.
