About Me
My name is Lana (33) and I live in Hove with my husband, dog, 2 year old daughter and 5 year old son (who is now in reception!)
I have been a primary school teacher for 10 years and absolutely love my job. We moved from London two and a half years ago and thoroughly enjoy coastal living. On the weekend you’ll often find us at the beach or exploring beautiful walking trails on the South Downs.
My Experience
I currently work 2.5 days a week as a Year 1 teacher in a school near Brighton and have taught all year groups up to Year 6. I have completed training on two accredited phonics programs and currently use Sounds Write with my Year 1’s.
Last year I did Year 3 and Year 4 interventions and worked with the students that needed some extra catch up sessions post covid.
I was English lead at a school in London for 3 years and have been using the maths mastery method of teaching mathematics for the past 10 years. I have also been Science lead, environment lead and coached three trainee teachers who were placed with me for a year.
I’ve tutored on and off throughout my teaching career and love having that one to one time to help children and watch them make progress.
My Qualifications
I completed my PGCE at the London Institute of Education in 2013.
I have been on numerous training courses throughout the years including lead practitioner and the Good to Great programme.
My Availability
I am available on Monday and Tuesday late afternoon/evenings. On Wednesday I can do post 1-2.3pm, post-school pick up or evenings and Thursday and Fridays are flexible (I take my daughter swimming at 11am on Thursday and to gymnastics at 1.45pm but post school pick up/evening I would be available)
On Friday my son has swimming at 4.30pm but am free after that or throughout the day.
Weekends I could also do depending on the time and if we have plans but I am very relaxed and can always work around things.
