About Me

I am Marianna Martin, and I would love become your Nanny. I have lots of experience of working with children of all different ages, from working within a structured nursery setting to working individually with children and having to plan activities. The ages I have looked after range from age one to seven. I have also had a diverse range of experiences, from dealing with twins, to dealing with German nursery children getting ready to attend school. I enjoy taking children to the park, local Art groups, soft play, library, reading with them, I enjoy the companionship, the laughter and chats. I am a non smoker, and I cannot drive.

Children fascinate me and I feel that whilst they can learn things form me, I can also learn form them. I speak English as a native speaker (my Dad is British) I also speak German and a bit of Greek (Mother is Greek Cypriot, and I grew up in Germany).
I have loved seeing the kids in my care develop in confidence and learn new and exciting skills, which they will take into later childhood and later life. I am patient and levelheaded and not phased by the demands of children and childcare. I have completed a first aid Pediatric course in Hamburg Germany, so feel confident to look after children safely and create a safe environment for them to be in.

I am happy to get my direction from the parents in terms of how they want to deal with routine, dealing with praise, tricky behavior. etc. However I have good ideas, I’m independent and have my own initiative with children. I do believe kids thrive on a fun and flexible routine.

Healthy eating is important to me personally, and also the kids in my care. Making kids excited about food and giving them a variety of different foods early on, is important to create a healthy later life and less fussy eaters.

I am organised and pack up the children’s bag for nursery the night before. I am tidy and understand that working parents don’t want to get home to a mess. I also understand that I am coming into your family and I understand that family’s need space at times. I also like my space, so this works well.

I am currently looking after lovely a one and three year old. I am very used to tantrums with the three year old consistency, is important to me and I make sure I deal with his behavior as the parents do, with a mixture of distraction, praise, rewards and the occasional time out. The 3 year old has allergies and is asthmatic (using an inhaler daily) so I feel confident to deal with this. The one year old has different demands as is learning to explore the world around her, so I have to create a safe space for her to do this (and have eyes in the back of my head!)
