My Summary
About Me
My name is Gemma and I currently live in the Suffolk area and since finishing college, I have been working in the early years sector. I am a happy, friendly and caring individual with a gentle and calm nature. I have enjoyed gaining a level 3 qualification in early years while working with children in nursery and school settings. I am now looking for a new experience and become a support to a family in need of a part-time/full-time nanny.
My Experience
Early years teaching and learning assistant | November- present | Stephen Perse Foundation
I joined the school in November, after having 5 years of experience in a nursery I wanted to gain experience in a school setting and work with different age groups. My role consists of supporting the class teachers in lessons, completing activities with small groups of children, one to one support, supporting children’s continuous provision through planning and setting up activities and teaching read write ink groups. I enjoy being creative with planning and the input of activities when leading the late stay provisions. I find the job role really rewarding and want to continue to support the progress of young children.
Nursery Assistant | September 2015- October 2020 | Long Road Bright Horizons
I joined Long Road nursery as my first full time job, I was based in the toddler’s room where I worked alongside colleagues to support each other in meeting the needs for the children and families within the room. I soon made strong friendships within the team due to the comfort I felt quickly after joining and the respect and trust that was built between each member. My daily tasks included ensuring each child’s daily routine is
withheld, and their vital needs are met, with regards to diet and nutrition, hygiene, development and their individual safety and rights. I had to work alongside colleagues, parents and external professionals daily, which has helped promote my confidence and communication skills. I then took on the responsibility of a key person role, being given a key group of children, meeting each of their individual needs and being a support to the families and carers, planning creative and exciting activities and play ideas to encourage their learning, and presenting each child’s learning and development through their own individual learning stories following the Early Years Foundation Stage. I enjoyed my role so decided to further my knowledge and understanding within the child care sector by doing a level 3 in childcare alongside my practical work within the nursery. I have recently completed this course and have developed my understanding of all aspects of the childcare sector including safeguarding, child protection, theorists, brain development and how children develop and learn.

NCFE CACHE Level 3 Diploma for the Early Years Workforce
