About Me
My name is Heather and I am a registered childminder in Ifield, Crawley. I live in a semi-detached house with my fiancé Craig and my puppy Merlin. We’ve lived here for almost 4 years now and have enjoyed redecorating the house from top to bottom, inside and out! Downstairs is completely open plan allowing free flow access from room to room, and we have a spacious, secure garden with mud kitchen and sand pit. Upstairs is where you’ll find our modern bathroom and spare bedroom for nap times.
I am most passionate about outdoor learning and at Honeybees we will have daily woodland adventures to follow the Forest School ethos. Forest School is a unique and alternative educational process which originated in Denmark hundreds of years ago. Forest School encourages learners to take manageable risks, build connections with nature and develop confidence through nature play. A big part of Forest School is learning through child-led play. As the adult I facilitate the children’s learning, however they are the leaders of their own play; this gives children a sense of freedom and responsibility which are vital life skills. Other skills like independence, confidence, team work and problem solving are all developed through achievable challenges in play.
My Experience
I have worked in childcare settings for around 10 years and have gained so much experience with a variety of different ages and abilities. I gained my Level 3 Diploma in Childcare and Education in 2017. For the past 6 years I have worked in a nursery for children aged 10 months – 5 years, where I was responsible for assessing a key group of children’s individual stage of development and then planning to support these needs with their interests in mind. I have been responsible for making referrals to other professionals (e.g. SALT, physiotherapist, CDC) where I thought was necessary to support individual children and worked in partnership with parents for continuity of care between nursery and home. I have extensive knowledge of the EYFS and can plan experiences in relation to a child’s development goals. I am DBS checked, hold 2 first aid certificates (paediatric and outdoor), am safeguarding trained and have a food hygiene certificate.
I have done nannying for several years now too during the summer holidays; this is what inspired me to become a childminder because I absolutely love it! I love the freedom I and the children get compared to a formal nursery setting. I can follow their lead and get out and about in the community.

My Fees
- Childminding from £6.25 per hour
Full day fee: £62.50
Breakfast, lunch, tea, drinks, snacks, and wipes are all included in the price. Daily trips out and about are also included in the price. I pride myself on offering quality outdoor provision like no other. We don’t offer afterschool pickups for older children so the children’s play is not interrupted and quality interactions can continue. We take weekly trips to Fishers Farm and these memberships are also included in fees.
