My Summary
About Me
Hello! My name is George, and I love rugby, cooking, reading, history and travel- and I’m also incredibly passionate about working with young kids!
I never envisioned or considered myself working with children, until a reluctant (at the time!) one-week nursery placement with a temping agency nearly five years ago gave me my first experience of childcare. I immediately fell in love with the job and haven’t looked back.
My philosophy is simple, and something every parent will recognise. Young children are not simply "underdeveloped adults". Rather, they are fully formed personalities, each with their own set of interests, anxieties and views, all of which deserve to be taken seriously by the adults in their lives. They are equal stakeholders in their communities and world around them. My job is to encourage and develop these personalities, so that the children in our care become the most fulfilled and happy versions of themselves.
My childcare approach is always ultimately informed by the family I’m working for, but as a rule I love spending as much time outside as possible; I don’t mind a bit of mess (but I’ll always leave your home in the state I’ve found it in); and your child always gives the most instructive insight into what they need to do that day.
If you’re interested in my services, please do get in contact- I’ll happily make myself available for a call and I’d love to be of help to your family!
My Experience
I have been working in childcare for the last four years- at first as an au pair, and then subsequently as a nursery worker. During this time, I’ve looked after children ranging from six months to 5 years old. I’m more than happy to provide references to back up my experience!
From September I will be attending the University of Roehampton to study early childhood education.
My Qualifications
I have three A-Levels at A grade (English Literature , History and Politics), as well as 1 A* (English Language), 7 A’s (including triple science and maths) and 2 B’s at GCSE- so I’m confident in offering a light tuition service tailor-made to your child. I am also paediatric first aid trained and have a current enhanced DBS.
My Availability
Currently I work four full days a week, with Wednesday’s off. I can work evenings on my working days, but only after 6 and will need to be home by midnight at the latest. From September, I will be going to university to study early childhood education with QTS full time- so will have much greater flexibility over the hours I can work during my normal term time, but unfortunately will be unavailable to work any weekdays during my placement weeks (which should amount to about three months a year)
