About Me
I have a combination of international and national teaching experience in Early years and key stage 1 and 2. I have very good communication skills, patient and with a good sense of humour. I enjoy teaching children to read, write and solve mathematical problems. I have strong phonics knowledge and skills which enables me to support children struggling with reading and spelling. Seeing children develop to their best potential in their learning and overcoming barriers to success is my main goal and always strive to achieve this.
My Experience
All my teaching experiences have taken place in an inner-city multicultural environment, where socio-economic deprivation has often been a factor.
I have worked as a leader and teacher in schools delivering phonics, early reading and mathematics. I also provided workshops to parents on how to support their children in these subjects. Having worked with education consultants and being through lots of Ofsted’s during my career, I am familiar with the teaching standards requirement that is expected of children and how to deliver it.
I very much like to teach children according to their individual needs and development through thorough lesson plans and using well sourced (child friendly) differentiated resources, whilst adopting a multisensory approach to learning.
I have attended training and courses in Maths (Numicon, Maths Mastery, Singapore Maths). As well as, phonics and reading; such as power of reading, read write ink, Jolly phonics and Letters and sounds.
I am DBS checked and I completed the CPD CERTIFIED Safeguarding children training 0n18th October 2020.
My Qualifications
Graduate of Biology Education (1992) with QTS in Early Years (2006).
My Availability
I am quite flexible and available most evenings Monday to Friday and Saturday mornings / afternoons.
