About Me

I possess a high level of organisation, amiability and diligence, accompanied with a strong professional ethos and dedication to engaging with children. The Bachelor's degree in Primary Education I am currently studying for and my professional experiences within educational establishments have significantly contributed to my career aspirations and enriched my understanding of several aspects related to children, including child development and engagement. I am seeking part-time, flexible employment that affords me the opportunity to enhance my skill set and broaden my experience, while studying for my aforementioned degree!
Look forward to speaking with you!

My Experience

Experience related to working with children only:

1. Rhyme and Reading Session Volunteer at the Library, Peterborough, Aug 2023 - Present.

This role was executed on Tuesday and Thursday mornings for the duration of the school summer break. I adeptly and confidently employed performance techniques, including facial expressions, tone of voice and body language, to effectively convey the rhymes and authentically portray the characters within a story. In preparation of the sessions, I procured various props, including animal teddy bears, for the purpose of enacting the popular nursery rhyme "Old MacDonald Had a Farm." In addition, I meticulously choreographed movements and gestures that are in correspondence with the words of the rhymes. This planning was undergone with the aim of providing both children and adults with an enjoyable and stimulating experience during the session!

2. Education Voluntary Events Assistant, Peterborough Museum, July 2023 – Present

This was a one day a week position during summer holidays, and I supported an agenda that encompasses the hands-on production of several crafts. I inherited the responsibility of establishing the primary craft concept, such as the ball and cup, as well as supplementary activities like paper puzzles and this relied upon my dedication beyond the scope of Fridays.

3. Online Reading volunteer, Bookmark, April 2023 - Present

This commitment is carried out via two sessions each week, each lasting 30 minutes, for a duration of six weeks. I have undergone three programmes involving distinct groups of students: an English as an additional language student, a socioeconomically disadvantaged pupil and a student with special educational needs. Therefore, each programme has provided me with the opportunity to adapt to an array of unique requirements and tailor our sessions accordingly.

4. Voluntary Teaching Assistant, St John’s Church of England Primary School, Peterborough, December 2021 - Present

When volunteering at my local primary school, I vigorously promote inclusion by providing support to a specific group of children within a classroom setting who may be experiencing academic challenges with a subject. This phenomenon often occurs because of an absence of interest in the topic matter, leading individuals to exhibit reluctance in engaging with it. Hence, it is incumbent upon me to enhance this level of involvement, which I do by utilising a diverse range of pedagogies, such as through methods and materials for instance incorporating word searches in English.

5. Deputy Head Girl, David Nieper Academy, Sept 2019 - March 2020

As part of my responsibilities, I was tasked with organising and overseeing parent and open evenings, fundraising activities, the schools website and social media pages and show productions - which I also provided assistance in the dance and drama components. Furthermore, in situations of staff shortages, I supervised younger students during their break and lunch periods.

6. Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award, January 2019

As part of completing the criteria for this accolade, I volunteered as a dance mentor at a dance school situated within my vicinity. The dance classes included a diverse range of dance styles, including a session tailored to children with special needs, which necessitated my acquisition of fundamental sign language. Furthermore, I had the opportunity to participate in an event for children who have been affected by the Chernobyl disaster.
