About Me
My name is Ann, I am a mother to 7 beautiful children and a nanny to 3 wonderful grandchildren. In my spare time I spend a lot of time with my family, sometimes going out somewhere fun for the children and sometimes enjoying each other’s company over a cuppa, a natter and a carpet full of toys and crayons! Raising 7 children has been no easy feat, but I have enjoyed and learned so much from it for example, patience, vigilance and decision-making skills. I'm in my element when talking about parenting and am often approached for parenting advice and tips by friends and family and I am always more than happy to listen and do my best to use my experience to help. I believe children are incredible, funny and can teach us so much while we watch them face the world and grow up. If I'm not with my family or friends, you'll find me either pottering around the garden or ‘Hinching’ the house.
My Experience
For the last 10 years I have worked with adults with complex learning difficulties that need 24/7 support. This job has given me invaluable insight about special needs, and I have found it very rewarding. Prior to that throughout the years and between bringing up my own family, I have had experience nannying children from new-born to 11 and completed year one of midwifery training (and then, ironically, I fell pregnant myself!) and various other jobs to work around family life such as cleaning and catering. I am confident in my ability to build trusting relationships and caring for children of any age and I am flexible in my approach to childcare because I know that everyone has different ways of doing things – after all there is no one right way of bringing up children. I also understand all children have different needs; therefore, my approach is based on every individual child and what they need so they can blossom into the amazing person they were meant to be!
