Hello, my name is Sophie Jo and I'm studying Ceramics in Cardiff, 26 years old, English first language and can also speak Welsh. I am a very empathetic character, very maternal, and I love to help and nurture others. I have a ‘fun loving’, sociable nature and I am very dependable.
I like to provide a fun, and relaxed environment for children through creative play, outings, crafts and activities. I understand the importance of dependability & routine, and have small but effective approaches to discipline. Additionally, being a native English speaker, it may be beneficial to your children to engage in English with me, I'd be happy to help them develop their grammar, and language skills or help with homework or school projects.
I would also be able to cook and cater for your little ones, or your family, I am experienced with catering for any allergies/unique dietary requirements having grown up with them myself.
I really enjoy being around children, they are honest individuals with a fresh and imaginative view on life. They keep you on your toes, and provide so much laughter. They make the world a happier place, change your perspective on life, as well as bringing out the best in you and your imagination.
Their excitement and curiosity is humbling, as well as the smiles, love and innocence they bring to people!
My Experience
I have experience working as a childminder, looking after children of all ages. In this time I learned that children enjoy my company as well as the other way round.
Coming from a very large family and busy farm/family I have babysat regularly for my younger cousins, siblings and their friends. I spent a year as a childminders assistant (reference can be provided) and working in Primary and Secondary schools in the UK as a teaching assistant, exam invigilator and a cover supervisor teacher. My last childminding job was for a family in Graz, Austria (I'd be able to provide a reference for this as well)
I am dependable to parents and their children and called upon regularly.
My Qualifications
I currently have no formal childcare qualifications, my DBS has expired since I started University, but I would be happy to renew my DBS for a suitable position and provide suitable references from past positions.
My Availability
I'm very flexible with hours and availability, especially over the Summer Holidays. I can work my schedule around yours.
