About Me
Lauren’s Little Explorer’s provides a professional, friendly, stimulating, home-from-home childcare service. We believe in creating a warm, safe atmosphere that will make your children feel relaxed, content and able to learn.
Our home features a dedicated playroom featuring a variety of toys, activities and areas to play at their own leisure.
At Little Explorer’s natural and outdoor play is seen as essential and will be carried out as much as possible- this is done through children having free access throughout the day to a secure garden area, featuring many fun outdoor resources and activities. Alongside this the setting is located with access to various parks, a lake and an open field just a short walk away. Little explorers occasionally use the car for outings further a field when ratio is 1:2.
Little Explorer’s provides a free play environment with activities set out as an invitation to play daily. We focus on the ‘In the moment planning’ structure and basing play around the interests of the child is paramount.
Children are all provided with their own learning scrapbook which will feature regular pictures and observations of their time at the setting. Along with this, children will also have their own personal development tracker to support their play and learning.
Furthermore, children have access to a healthy balanced menu including breakfast, snack and lunch.
My Experience
auren’s little explorer’s is a home from home childcare setting created by myself, Lauren Millar. I have been working with children of a variety of ages since 2014. I have worked within school settings- both mainstream and Special Educational Needs, I have worked as a manager of a before and after school club/holiday club, as a Deputy Manager in two nursery settings and a Special Educational Needs Co-Ordinator within the Nurseries.
My love for working with children strived from my childhood, looking after and supporting my two siblings with Special Educational Needs. I then went on to complete a degree in Education and Special Educational Needs, varying from Early Years care to 18 years of age. I now have my own little boy born in 2020 and have decided to create my own wonderful setting to continue doing the job I love.
My Qualifications
My Main Qualifications include:
• BA Honours Degree in Education Studies & Special Educational Needs.
• 12 Hour Paediatric First Aid Training
• Safeguarding Training
• Food Hygiene including, Nutrition, Healthier Foods and Special Diets
• Allergy Training
• Fire Safety
• Safe sleeping for Babies- Reducing the risk of SIDS.
• Medication Awareness
- All members of the household hold a clear DBS check.
Additional Qualifications and Training can be shared on request.
