Hi, My name is Karen and I live in North Cardiff with my husband and Daughter who is 18. I have 2 other children who have now flown the nest!
In May 2021 I started my own business Little Stars - Professional Nanny Service.
I have some Welsh language skills and all my children have been taught through the medium of Welsh. I am a level 3 Teaching Assistant and have worked in many Cardiff schools with all year groups, from Nursery to Year 6, have experience with all ages of children and have worked with children with additional needs. I have a fully enhanced DBS and can provide references if requested.
I love nature and the great outdoors and we share our home with our cats and dogs. I enjoy spending time with children, helping them to thrive and to be the best that they can be. In my spare time I like cooking, baking, music, walking, keeping fit and spending time with family,

My Experience
I worked in primary schools from 2011 - 2021 and have had a range of experience during this time. When my children were small I also worked as a child minder. I have worked with children who have additional needs and I have a British Sign Language level 1 certificate. I am a Level 3 Teaching Assistant and completed my contract at the end of the Summer term 2021 having decided to change direction into Nannying. I am currently working as a Nanny for a local family, and also work on an ad hoc basis for other families. We have lovely days based around the children's interests and stage of development. I always carry my Nanny bag with activities to interest and engage the children I am caring for. Being a Level 3 trained Teaching Assistant I encourage activities to help and develop the child's early learning skills educationally, emotionally, socially and physically (fine & gross motor skills). I make a variety of resources to bring with me based on the child's individual needs, interests and stage of development. For older children who are in school during the day, when time allows in their schedule I encourage engagement in different activities such as baking, craft, painting, trips to the park and anything else we can fit in. As a trained Teaching Assistant I am able to assist with homework, and to make and adapt resources to meet your child's needs.

Karen has cared for our two daughters (ages 5 and 1 years) on several occasions. She always brings activities, which our eldest loves and talks about all of the time. We have always felt confident leaving our kids under Karen's care and couldn't recommend her more highly.

Karen has been our regular after school nanny this year. She has taken the children to their various extra-curricular activities, supported their school learning and encouraged their learning and development by engaging them in extra activities which she has developed. She is fun, and participates with all the crazy things that the children want to explore.
She is very committed and extremely reliable. She cares for the children, knows them well and understands their interests and preferences. We will miss her when we move!
