My Experience

LSA (learning support assistant) Hatton Primary School and Special Needs Centre.
I began my work at Hatton school through an education agency (Sugarman) after being in this role for a short time the school offered me a position on their permanent staff team, which I accepted. My roles and responsibilities as a learning support assistant consist of working closely with teachers and children within a specific class, and ensuring that the children are reaching their full potential, both in educational achievements as well as life learning skills. I am involved in preparing and delivering learning programmes and providing support to individual childrenwithin these individualised educational tasks. I provide 1:1 support to some individuals that require extra support to manage in the classroom, as well as working in small or large groups of children to carry out and deliver activities.
Other elements covered within this role are:
*Helping to plan lessons and prepare resources.
*Helping with children’s learning and development, e.g., assisting those who are having difficulties, listening to pupils read, helping with number work as-well as managing challenging behaviour.
*Supervising pupils in the playground, dining hall, outdoor activities and in classroom.
*Keeping records of each child’s progress within the GDPR regulations.
*Helping children prepare for PE lessons.
*Assisting with the children’s health and hygiene.
*Comforting and supporting children who are unhappy or upset.
*Finding coping strategies for the child to manage and regulate their own behaviour.
