About Me
Hi, I'm Sophie Hutchings. I live in Caerphilly with my husband, 3 children (17, 5 and 3) and our loving pet Labrador.
Within my setting I aim to provide a safe, secure, happy and nurturing environment in which the children with learn, grow and develop through a range of play opportunities. I have a range of toys and activities and children have access to a secure back garden. My setting is close to two local parks (one within walking distance). I have a full driving license which allows me to be able to travel with children to take them to toddler/playgroups and to have fun days out!
I am a non-Welsh speaking setting but do use some Welsh words and phrases that children will learn and use in school. I provide opportunities for all children to be active learners and to be stimulated to learn through discovery, enjoyment, free play.
I am currently registered with CIW. I was previously a primary school teacher working with children between the ages of 3 and 11 years.
My Experience
I have worked as a teacher for 3 years whist finishing off my undergraduate degree and then studying my postgraduate degree in research. Whilst being a teacher I taught various ages from 3-11 years. I have also worked in ALN units and have experience working 1:1 with children who need additional support.
My Qualifications
BA (Hons) Physical Education and School Sport.
MRes Master of Research in Physical Education and School Sport.
Level 2 Food hygiene
Safeguarding with Children
Level 3 Award in Pediatric First Aid
Level 3 Children's Care, Play, Learning and Development: Introduction to home-based childcare & Preparing for Childminding Practice.
An Awareness of Type 1 Diabetes in Schools and Other Settings: Advanced Level.
My Availability
Monday-Friday 7:30am-5:30pm, term and non-term time.
I do not work Bank Holidays and take 25 days holidays a year.
