About Me

Hi! I am a fun-loving, creative person, just finished my MA in Folklore Studies. I have experience as a nanny for a toddler and nursery-aged child, as well as running children's church sessions and leading groups of children in a residential setting. I have lead various after school clubs from Music to Technology to Storytelling, and during my time as a Teaching Assistant I ran interventions to help children with emotional or behavioral problems via creative activities and play, in line with the Thrive approach. I love crafts, storytelling and engaging children in nature. I have an enhanced DBS, multiple safeguarding certificates (provided on request), a First Aid in Schools Qualification and a first class degree from the University of Oxford. I am currently only available for babysitting.

My Experience

Part-time Nanny and Administrative Assistant (15-20hrs), October 2022-Present:
When I moved to complete my master's degree, I began working part-time providing childcare for a 3 1/2-year-old child. This role involves preparing and delivering developmentally appropriate activities, including crafts, early writing and mathematics, construction and fine motor skills activities and reading. I also assist the family with a variety of administrative tasks, including researching applications, scanning in documents, making appointments, and assisting with the setting up of a property as an Airbnb.

Part-time (20hrs) Nanny (July-August 2022):
During the summer holidays, I looked after an 18 month toddler. This involved (cloth) nappy changes, meal times, inside and outside play, reading to him, and engaging with him in various activities. I also babysat several evenings, conducting his bedtime routine.

Teaching Assistant and Afterschool Club Leader (September 2021-July 2022):
After graduating, I worked full-time (40hrs) as a primary school TA, working primarily with Year 4 (8-9 year olds). I offered general classroom assistance to the class teacher, including prepping class materials, helping keep class books neat, offering help and guidance to the children during lessons, as well as providing occasional teaching cover. I also worked with the class teacher to facilitate targeted interventions, for example handwriting, phonics and times tables, as well as running the Dancing Bears and Language for Thinking programs with certain children. I also assisted the children with their reading, and go over higher-level maths content with higher- achieving children. I ran wellbeing ‘Thrive’ interventions for multiple children with family, emotional, behavioral or social issues, using creative activities, games and mindfulness exercises in my approach. I was responsible for supervising the children at break and lunch times, particularly the Receptions and Year 1s. I was also employed as an After School Club Leader. I have run a range of clubs from Music to Technology to Craft, working with children from 4-11 years old.

Children's Church (October 2019-December 2020): In October I began volunteering for the Children’s team at St Aldates Church in Oxford. This involved leading and supporting weekly sessions for young children (ages 2-3) and engaging them in a wide range of activities, as well as regularly creating and adapting educational resources. These sessions involved songs, games, creative activities and free play. I also utilised tools such as puppets and visual aids to further engage children in storytelling.

Free to Be Kids (July 2019-June 2021): I volunteered with the charity, Free to Be Kids, as a group leader at one of their summer residentials for children aged 8-13. During my second and final years, I was the secretary of the Free to Be Kids society at Oxford University, and was thus responsible for booking rooms for training, helping coordinate publicity, and organizing applications for grants. From March-May 2020, I also mentored an 8-year-old over zoom. This involved assisting them with homework, and, on a more general level, encouraging them through the difficulties of the pandemic and providing a supportive adult presence.

KS3 Philosophy Club (October 2016- July 2018): As student ambassador for Philosophy, Beliefs and Ethics I volunteered to take over the leadership of the KS3 Philosophy Club, which involved preparing for and facilitating a philosophical discussion every week. I maintained this role throughout my sixth form studies, and it gave me significant leadership and organisational experience.

Stow-on-the-Wold Primary School (January – July 2017): While in Sixth Form I volunteered weekly to lead PSHE sessions at my local primary school. This involved preparing and leading activities which encouraged the children to engage with topics ranging from bullying to the environment.
