I am currently studying MA (Hons) Economics at Glasgow University and I have completed third year with 2:1 honours. I have 4 years of experience in childcare and teaching and have 6 years of experience in retail. I have experience with children with complex additional needs, and many different learning abilities. I have cared for new-born babies up to teenage years and feel very confident with all ages. My academic education so far has given me an excellent work ethic and taught me how to manage my time, working both independently, and as part of a team. I am looking for full or part time employment during my summer break from university. I can start as soon as possible, and I am very flexible. I have a UK driving license and a car, willing to travel. I am fully first aid trained, and have completed my PVG children safeguarding qualification.
My Experience
Ski Instructor- Teaching children from the age of two up to adult ages how to ski. Being able to adapt to children’s different needs and learning abilities. Being able to communicate with their parents and ensure they were satisfied. Capable of being responsible for a large group of children and ensuring they were safe and happy at all times. Caring for children during the school holidays while they attended ski schools. Activities included ski lessons, excursions out of the centre, arts and craft activities etc.
Special needs teaching assistant- Supporting class teacher to help children with special educational needs and disabilities. I had to be extremely patient and understanding, and I developed an ability to remain calm in stressful situations. Daily tasks included preparing learning materials, looking after child’s physical and emotional welfare and adapting my teaching support according to the child’s needs.
Nursery teaching assistant- Plan and supervise activities, help children learn numeracy and language skills, take groups of children on outings; ensuring everyone was safe and followed instructions. Fed and changed babies, put children to bed and ensured their sleeping schedule was followed, observed the children in order to report and communicate with their parents.
Babysitter- Babysat and helped parents when needed. Took children to school/nursery. Completed homework with children. Made dinner and put them to bed. Basic housework tasks such as completing laundry, cooking and cleaning the home. Have experience being a night nanny and feeding young babies throughout the night.
