Hi! My name is Jess and I am 21 years old. I am from Ireland but I am living in the Westend of Glasgow. I am currently a third year music student studying at the University of Glasgow. In my free time, I like to practise and piano, singing and gymnastics. I am the secretary of the University of Glasgow Gymnastics Club. I also like hiking and camping with my friends. My passion for caring for children began when I started to babysit my neighbour's children in the evening and night. After spending many Summer's babysitting my neighbour's children throughout the Summers, I decided to spend my Summer in America, caring for 6 10 year old children. Coming back to Glasgow in September for University, I know I want to continue my passion and care for more children.
My Experience
From the age of 16, I have babysat my neighbour's children whom were 4 months and 2 years old. My duties included: playing games with them after dinner, bedtime routine such as washing face, bathtime, teeth brushing, reading to sleep, nursing back to sleep.
For three years, I was a young scout leader and volunteered at the Brownies. My duties included: organising games for children aged 7-16.
From the age of 16, I spent 6 weeks most Summers babysitting my neighbour's children who are aged 4 and 12. Duties included: morning routine, breakfast making, extra school help, lunch making, games and reading in the afternoon, days out, making dinner.
In Summer 2023 for 7 weeks, I lived in America at an all girls Summer Camp. I lived with six 10 year old children. My duties included: morning routine such as waking up, teeth brushing, washing, help getting dressed and organised for the day. At night, I would play board games and puzzles with the children, as well as the bedtime routine. More duties included: comforting homesick children, resolving conflicts between children including siblings, and acting as the tooth fairy.
