About Me
Hi! My name is Katelyn, and I am a fun, caring, and creative person who is moving to Canterbury at the end of September. I am looking for part-time babysitting and/or tutoring opportunities. Although I am American by citizenship, I have lived and worked all over the world - from Switzerland, to France, to China, to the UK!
I have been babysitting since the age of 14 and have experience with mostly toddlers/primary school-aged children, though I am open to younger (or older) ages as well. I regularly babysat for 3 families while living in Switzerland.
I have also been tutoring since I was 14. I completed the International Baccalaureate in secondary school, and I have a (1st class honours) BA in Criminology & Sociology from the Open University. Recently, I have completed all of my coursework for my MSc in Criminal Justice Policy at the London School of Economics. Subjects I am capable of tutoring are:
-English literature and English as a Second Language (all levels)
-Sociology and/or criminology (all levels)
-Maths (up to grade 8)
-MYP/IB topics (secondary school)
A bit more about me: I have first-aid training, and in my free time, I enjoy coffee, creative writing, a good book, and crocheting. I also speak intermediate French and German.
My Experience
My first babysitting experience was looking after a 9-month-old baby for a family friend once a week when I was 14 years old. After one year, the family I worked for moved away, and I discovered my passion for tutoring. Since then, I have tutored mostly English and maths to students of all ages from diverse backgrounds - from underserved students in China to incarcerated individuals in the United States. When I was 22, I began babysitting again, alongside my tutoring. During this time, I frequently looked after my partner's 4-year old brother and worked for a family with two boys aged 6 and 8.
