About Me

I am 18 years old, having just finished my A Levels this summer, of which I achieved all three; Government & Politics, History and English Literature. Two years ago, I achieved all 9 of my GCSEs. I have always had an avid interest in literature and history, which coincides with the fact that I love to read and learn. I am half Italian (from Sardinia), the oldest of three siblings in our family of five. I speak the language fluently and I am sitting a GCSE qualification in it, in May 2024 alongside my sister. I am passionate about my family and our culture and I am very family oriented. I love spending time with my younger siblings which is where I think I have developed a love for childcare and helping when needed. I am outgoing, not afraid to get stuck in and I'm a hard worker when put to the task! I see the importance in education which is why I am also a tutor because I believe everyone should have access to the help they need. As a child I was involved in everything from gymnastics to swimming to the Brownies. From age 7-10 I was a Brownie and then at the age of 15 l returned after finishing Guides, to help out as a young leader. This was part of the volunteering section for my Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award but I realised I was good at it and I enjoyed it, so I decided to pursue it and here I am offering my services for childcare. Funnily enough, tutoring started out the same way as for the volunteering section on my silver Duke of Edinburgh Award I started tutoring my siblings and a family friend in the Covid lockdown.

My Experience

In terms of tutoring I believe I have experience as in the last academic year, I tutored a GCSE student in English Literature and English Language, for which he sat the exams this summer. Furthermore, I am currently tutoring two year 11 students (separately), for their GCSEs that they are due to sit in May/June 2024. The focus is currently on History and Religious Education as well as English. I believe I am equipped for both as I attended a Catholic secondary school for 7 years and achieved a grade 8 in both subjects at GCSE level. I specialise in English and History due to the fact that I have a passion for them and I chose to continue them at A Level. I therefore have a wider scope of knowledge on these particular subjects. Despite this, I also believe that I possess the potential to be of help in other areas such as tutoring Government and Politics, which I also studied further at A Level. In addition, I am fluent in Italian and achieved a grade 8 in GCSE French which I feel I could be of use in.
In terms of childcare, I believe I have experience simply being the oldest of three siblings and the responsibility that comes with it. However, I do also possess real experience, such as volunteering with the young girls in Brownies once I had already finished GirlGuiding myself. Additionally, last year I completed a work experience placement locally, in the Mead Infant School as a teaching assistant in Reception Class. Furthermore, I regularly babysit for a local family - their two young boys aged 7 and 9, both with diagnosed autism. I very much enjoy the time I get to spend with them whether it be daycare or the night time routine. They are lovely to be around and we play, watch movies and most recently, have built a very large lego house together. However, it is not always playtime and I have the task of cooking for them whether it be lunch and/or dinner. This task can sometimes prove to be challenging as only certain foods can be provided, due to the fact that some autistic children find it difficult with unfamiliar foods or they have a routine that cannot be disturbed. In addition to this, I also bathe and put the boys to bed at their individual bedtimes and then clear up the playroom whilst they’re sleeping. Recently, I went on an outing to the theatre with the boys which we all very much enjoyed and it was lovely to be able to see them on an outing instead of just at home. My young cousin is also autistic and spending time with all three of them has pointed out to me that not one child shares the same experience with autism. I feel from this that I have developed an acute understanding of autism as well as a certain awareness that can adhere to any child with particular needs.

My Qualifications

I have 3 A Levels, 9 GCSEs (all in the grade bracket A*-C). In May 2024 I am sitting a GCSE in Italian so I have a qualification in it. I have a First Aid Qualification as well as both my bronze and silver Duke of Edinburgh Awards. I am currently working on my Gold. I am also currently in the process of getting DBS checked.

My Availability

I am on the search for a typical 9-5 job, but currently I am available pretty much any time, except for Mondays after school until about 8pm as that is when I am tutoring.

My Fees

  • Babysitting from £10.00 per hour
  • Tutoring from £15.00 per hour

For tutoring, the average UK price ranges from £30-£60 an hour. I typically do not charge the average rates as I do not run a full time official business. My rates are usually from £15-20 an hour depending on what you are willing and able to pay. I do not believe that help for education should be wildly expensive. In terms of childcare, I charge from £10 an hour depending on the number of children and the services I will be required to provide. If it is more than 1 child with requirements to cook, bathe, clean etc, I typically charge slightly extra, depending on what the parent/carer is willing to pay. Again, I do not believe that it should be wildly expensive for childcare when needed.
