About Me

I am qualified in paediatric first aid and have knowledge and understanding of all safeguarding measures required in order to keep children safe. My teaching experience, which has included Early Years and SEND (additional learning needs) has demanded high levels of responsibility, decision-making, time keeping and organisational skills. Alongside the ability to work together effectively with others as part of a team, I am also being prepared to offer leadership when appropriate. I would contend that these classroom/teaching skills are easily transferable into the home setting and can be utilised to create a well-structured and fun learning environment for children when their school day finishes. I find that effective communication techniques and strategies, such as OFNR (Observation, Feelings, Needs and Requests), adapted when appropriate to meet the needs of each individual child, promote healthy boundaries and regulation of emotions and assist in guiding the child in the development of their independence and formation of a positive sense of self-identity.
I am a warm and nurturing person; exceedingly caring, empathetic, considerate and patient. I’ve also got a good sense of humour – a vital personal attribute in some circumstances! I also pride myself on my honesty, reliability and respect for others. I am now looking to broaden and progress in my career and am looking for a full-time nanny/governess position: somewhere that I can stay long term, develop a bond and connection with the whole family and help to guide the children in ways that support parental values and expectations.

My Experience

I have a degree in Dance from the University of Leeds, together with a PGCE with qualified teaching status and over 7 years of teaching experience in Further Education, Secondary and Primary schools. As well as a passion for teaching, I also have considerable experience in the Arts and have been both a competitor and teacher of ballroom and Latin American dancing. Coming from an extensive dance background, I have naturally established a deep sense of discipline into my daily routine in order to build healthy day-to-day habits. In turn, I believe passionately in the power of creativity to help support happy well-rounded children in their learning journey and beyond. For example, I have studied movement (as part of my dissertation) and how it can aid children’s academic ability, with specific regard to ADHD and dyslexia.
As a qualified yoga teacher, I am able to facilitate daily yoga and gentle breathing and mindfulness practices. Somatic resourcing, such as mindful breathing and yoga are proven methods to help children better regulate their emotions and develop self-awareness. I’m a firm believer in positive reinforcement and the promotion of a “can-do” attitude to increase confidence and feelings of well-being and happiness. In this sense, it is important that children have access to well-managed, but relaxed, daily routines that can support their busy schedules and allow them to flourish, have fun and progress.
