My Summary
About Me
Hi, My name is Emma, I am 25 and from New Zealand. I am moving to the UK in May and will be working as a Welfare Manager at a Summer Camp in Reading, this role will be finishing early August and I will then be looking for a full time role beginning August/September. A little bit about my background: I have a Bachelor of Dance studies and am currently working as a Disability Support Worker and Facilitator. I have previously worked in education with children and teenagers as a teacher aide, as well as a lot of experience within retail, hospitality, babysitting, dance teaching and many volunteer experiences.
A few extra things about myself: I enjoy hiking, music, trying new things - lately it has been many different foods and physical activities, hanging out with family (I have 4 sisters!) and especially my baby niece.
If you have anything in mind please reach out! I am very open to any opportunity.
My Experience
Presently, I am employed as a Disability Support Worker at Community Connections in Wellington City. In this role, I assist disabled individuals in leading the lives they desire within the community. Working with a diverse range of disabilities—physical, mental, and intellectual—I have honed my skills as a confident, self-reliant, intuitive, and flexible professional. I take pride in my ability to navigate stressful situations and handle sensitive information while building trust and confidence with clients, colleagues, and external stakeholders.
Previously I have worked with children and teenagers as a Teacher Aide at South Wellington Intermediate School and Wellington East Girls College. As a teacher aide, I actively contributed to students' academic and personal development both in mainstream classes and within the supported learning environment. My role involved providing support for learning, fostering social and life skills, and promoting independence. I showcased leadership abilities by organizing and leading various activities such as outdoor hiking trips, baking sessions, crafts, dance workshops, and swimming. Additionally, I demonstrated initiative in managing situations where students with intellectual differences clashed, prioritizing their safety. My enthusiasm, flexibility, and adaptability were evident as I assisted students across a diverse range of subjects, including english, math, science, social studies, and dance. I also enhanced my skills through workshops and training provided by the Ministry of Education.
