About Me
Hi, I am Naomi! I am the oldest sibling and have two younger brothers, one of which has autism so I am aware of the additional needs and patience that are required with children with SEN. I have also worked with SEN children as part of my University placement.
Having grown up going to church, I have been surrounded by many little children and entertained them whilst their parents chatted and had a break from their children after the service. Whether this looked like cuddling and singing to a baby or making sure the slightly older children were getting along and playing nicely.
I have just graduated from the University of Huddersfield and have done some work in a nursery for a few months, however I found it hard to focus on the individual needs of each child in the setting.
If you were to hire me, I would make sure that the child(ren) are given age appropriate activities, both indoors and outdoors, that they are interested in and can aid their overall development in their becoming their own person. I truly believe that children thrive best when they are engaged through play and activities that they enjoy.
My Experience
I have recently graduated from university, I studied Early Years Education and Care. Within that I have worked in nurseries with children from 6 months up to 4 years. I have also worked in a Nursery with that age group. This role included: encouraging development through play, reading and social interactions. Ensuring each child was supported in their interests and at their own pace. Establishing a routine for the children to follow- snack and meal times, nap times and a play outside each day.
Other voluntery experience as been with Primary School children in summer clubs or evening clubs. This is includes organising games, providing healthy snacks, crafts and making sure all the children were included and enjoying themselves.
I have also volunteered at my church's creche group, this was working with children ages 0-4.
My Qualifications
I am Level 6 Qualified in a BA Hons in Early Years Education from the University of Huddersfield.
My Availability
As of the moment, I have availability throughout all week-days, though ideally I would want at least one week-day off (dependant on the length of my days).
As I have a husband and a house to maintain myself, I would say my working hours would be between 8:30am and 5:30pm.
